ESSAY 1

There is no doubt that one of the reasons for global warming is air pollution.
Since humans are aiming to earn more and more money and countries started
expanding in every field, this has become a major problem that could shortly
affect our lives. I decided to raise two crucially important factors which could
presumably contribute to stopping this.
To begin with, eco-friendly transportation is considered an immensely effective
way to slow the process of air pollution. In today’s world, billions commute with
fuel-burning transportation on a daily basis, and sadly, most of us decide on
personal vehicles. According to a recent study conducted among metropolises
and countrysides showed, the former’s air can even be three times more
polluted than the latter.
Although eco-friendly transportation may be very constructive, it is probably
true that the effects of using renewable fuel and clean energy might have more
positive consequences on reducing the air pollution level. Since the application
of inexhaustible resources is a much-foresighted method, companies ought to
invest more in it. It does not damage nature when created, nor when it is used
up. Humanity got to a point when moving away from fossil fuels is a necessity,
not a matter of will, hence all companies should be obligated to adapt to this.
Taking these ways into consideration, I believe that in this instance the usage of
renewable fuel and clean energy would help more to decrease the intensity of
air pollution. In lack of this, eco-friendly transportation is just the second-best
option, but they complete each other flawlessly.

ESSAY 2

It goes without saying that today’s biggest challenge is keeping the urban
environment clean. Recent discussions center around solutions on how to achieve
it, hence I decided to raise two crucially important factors which could
presumably contribute to this.
To begin with, some may find public services successful, yet it does not exactly
add positive values. Unquestionably, it keeps the area safe from getting extremely
littered, however, it not only provides a temporary solution but also encourages
the citizens to throw away garbage in public, as it has no further consequences. It
should be the individual’s duty, to keep the public and nature exactly how they
encountered it. Otherwise, the situation would certainly escalate rapidly and
enter an irreversible state, where no social worker could possibly help.
Closely related to the point mentioned above is the influence that media has on
us. By starting public awareness campaigns, people would certainly be more
attentive on the streets, as hearing a positive message from their highly admired
figures would make a greater impact on them. According to a study conducted
among United Kingdom citizens showed, people tend to be more cautious if they
are not threatened, but rather inspired to act of their own will.
Taking these ways into consideration, I believe that in the instance public
awareness campaigns would help more to keep the urban environment clean and
tidy. The public services are just the second-best option, but they complete each
other flawlessly.

ESSAY 3
Question:
Your class has been discussing whether school/college leavers should be
forced to do unpaid work if no paid jobs are available. You have made the
notes below:

Arguments for and against forcing young people into jobs that are not paid:

 it gives young people the chance to gain valuable work experience.

 it would benefit society if more young people worked for the local
community.
 companies would be exploiting young people as a cheap source of
labour.

Some opinions expressed during the discussion:

 If the job needs doing the company should be prepared to pay for
someone’s labour.
 Such a scheme would build confidence in young people who would
otherwise be idle
 It would force young people into dead-end jobs

Write an essay discussing two of the arguments made for and/or against

making young people do unpaid work. You should explain which argument
is more important, giving reasons in support of your answer.

Answer:
“Recent discussions center around whether school and college dropouts
should be forced to do unpaid work if paid jobs are not available. Economists
and professors debate about this problem for years. Despite the great
advantages and disadvantages they came up with, no factual choice has been
made. In this essay, two aspects regarding education leavers will be
discussed.

To begin with, numerous companies and businesses complained about the

lack of workforce, which may end up slowing down many industries. Forcing
youngsters to give a hand to specific factories and other businesses would not
only help out the economy, but also the children themselves, as it is a great
way to build confidence in those who would otherwise be idle. Nevertheless,
job experience on the resumes is highly regarded by future interviewees, as it
shows the person’s capabilities.

Although forced jobs may be very successful and constructive for the pupils, it
is probably true that companies making advantage of cheap workforce might
have more negative than positive consequences on the future of fellow
individuals. Besides giving a harsh introduction of reality, it may also cause
huge debt for them, in the likely case that the payment will not be near enough
to cover the rent and other necessary expenses.

To sum up, I believe the disadvantages of the second idea weigh up those
which are mentioned in the first one. From my point of view, school dropouts
should rather be supported to find their passion, by offering another chance to
explore themselves in other fields of study. “
