SUBJECT: Landing Gear - Main Wheel Assembly - Repair of the Inner Wheel Half Bearing Bore

This Service Letter replaces the previously issued Service Letter dated: Feb 27/02

1. Effectivity

Goodrich Main Wheel Assembly, P/N 3-1485, when installed on British Aerospace Model
J-31/-32 Aircraft

2. Reference

Goodrich Component Maintenance Manual (CMM) 32-45-70

3. Purpose

To give operators a repair procedure for the inner wheel half, P/N 10-1513-1, if the
bearing cup turns in the bearing bore.

4. Reason

To permit operators to repair an inner wheel half, and return the wheel half to service.

5. Procedure

A. Measure the eddy-current conductivity (%IACS) on the end of the hub. If the
conductivity is more than 40.5% IACS, measure the hardness in the same area. If
the hardness is less than 120 BHN, Rockwell B76 or equivalent, discard the wheel
half.

B. Machine the bearing bore to the dimensions given in Figure 1 to remove corrosion
and/or damage. Do not machine the bearing bore to a diameter or a depth larger
than is shown in Figure 1.
