Project Description

Crowded urban atmosphere, unfavorable environmental conditions and the magnitude of social pressure in the community
specifically in Surabaya are factors that cause high levels of stress in today’s society. This problem looks quite insignificant, but
has a large impact on the quality of human resources. Responding to the high stress level in today’s society, supporting
activities for the inner peace such as yoga and meditation are getting more popular among people in Surabaya. However, these
activities are still not supported by conductive environment.

The design of Healing Space provides a place for people to reduce stress levels through various activities and facilities which
focused on fulfilling human self-balance and a conductive space ambience. The applied design concept focused on creating a
space atmosphere as a safe shelter and detached from the crowded urban atmosphere. Hence, the design created in a form of
shelter and nest as a parable of a safe place called Sanctum. Sanctum is a quiet and safety place; a private place where most
people are excluded.
