GRE 4-Week Study Plan

If you’re taking the GRE in 4 weeks, use this study plan to keep your preparation on track! It will guide you
through all of the activities that are available to you as owner of GRE Premium Prep, 2021 Edition, as well as
other optional activities that we recommend. If you have slightly more or less time to study, see the bottom of
this document for instructions to modify this plan.

This study plan includes activities from ETS’s Practice Book for the Paper-Based GRE Revised General Test,
which contains retired math and verbal questions from real GREs.

Using Your Study Plan


We recommend that you print out this study plan and keep it with your study materials. You can then check
off the activities you’ve completed as you go.

Before you dive in, take a moment to familiarize yourself with the activities listed in your study plan. They are:

• Prep: GRE Premium Prep, 2021 Edition

• Vocabulary: Chapters 8 and 9: Vocabulary Basics and Vocabulary on the GRE in your book,
GRE Premium Prep, 2021 Edition

• Student Tools: Online Tools accompanying GRE Premium Prep, 2021 Edition

• Practice Book: Practice Book for the Paper-Based GRE Revised General Test (ETS publication;
can be downloaded as a PDF from the ETS website)

• POWERPREP: GRE POWERPREP® II Software, which can be downloaded for free at


www.ets.org/gre

Week 1
Activity Assignment Done*

Prep Read the Introduction, General Strategy, and The Geography


of the Verbal Section chapters, and work through the Reading
Comprehension.

Student Tools Take GRE Practice Test 3 (and use as a diagnostic).

Practice Book Read through the Overview Section and Intro to Analytical
Writing Measure.

Week 2

Prep Work through the Text Completions,The Geography of the


Math Section, and the Math Fundamentals chapters.

Vocabulary Read through Chapter 8: Vocabulary Basics, in your book, then


learn Key Terms Groups 1 and 2 (Chapter 9 in your book).

Student Tools Take GRE Practice Test 6, and watch the following videos:
• GRE Verbal: Section Strategies
• GRE Math: Plugging In
• GRE Math: Plugging In Quant Comp

Practice Book Read through the Intro to Verbal Reasoning Measure.

Math and Geometry Basics, GRE Geometry chapters.

Vocabulary Learn Key Terms Groups 3 and 4.

• GRE Math: Plugging In the Answers

Practice Book Read through the Intro to Quantitative Reasoning Measure.

Week 4

Prep Work through the GRE Geometry, Math Et Cetera,


The Geography of the Analytical Writing Section,
The Issue Essay, and The Argument Essay chapters.

Take the GRE Practice Tests found in your book.

Vocabulary Learn Beyond the Key Terms Group 1.

Student Tools Take GRE Test 8, and watch the following videos:

• Review the GRE General Test Strategies

Modifying This Study Plan
This study plan is designed for use over a 4-week time frame. If you have slightly less time to study, make the
following modifications:

• Skip the Prep chapter on the Analytical Writing section.


• Work through only one Key Terms group per week.

If you have slightly more time to study, make the following modifications:

• Take the GRE POWERPREP® II tests available at www.ets.org/gre

If you have a significantly longer period of time to study, use our 8- or 12-week plan.
