Rumba, also spelled rhumba, ballroom dance of Afro-Cuban folk-dance
RUMBA origin that became internationally popular in the early 20th century.
Best known for the dancers' subtle side to side hip movements with the
torso erect, the rumba is danced with a basic pattern of two quick side
steps and a slow forward step.

The Afro-Cuban rumba developed in the black urban slums of Cuba in

the mid-19th century. It encompasses vocal performance, drumming,
and improvisational dancing.

You know what?

FOXTROT
The foxtrot is a smooth, progressive dance characterized by long,
continuous flowing movements across the dance floor. It is
danced to big band (usually vocal) music. The dance is similar in its
look to waltz.

The dance was premiered in 1914, quickly catching the eye of the
husband and wife duo Vernon and Irene Castle, who lent the
dance its signature grace and style. The origin of the name of the
dance is unclear, although one theory is that it took its name from
its popularizer, the vaudevillian, Harry Fox.
SWING DANCE
You'll never be bored

Swing dancing is a popular social dance that is often

characterized by lifts, spins and flips. It’s generally
upbeat, lively and a lot of fun to watch

Swing dancing developed in the 1920s and 30s in

America. In the midst of the great depression dance halls
were packed and Jazz music was booming, lifting
people’s spirits and providing them with an escape.
Originally “Swing” referred to the style of Jazz music,
which inspired the dance. As Big Bands such as Benny
Goodman, Duke Ellington, and Paul Whiteman became
popular, so did Swing dancing

The Cha Cha Cha is sort of like a quick Mambo, with the addition of
CHACHA triple steps. The mambo steps to the counts of 2, 3, 4. Because no
footwork happens on the count of 1, it became popular to dance a
triple step within those 2 counts. The sound of the dance heels doing
The dance that replaced Mambo
the triple step, created a "Cha Cha Cha" sound, which then became the
name of the dance! Hence, the basic Cha Cha foot rhythm of 1, 2, 3, 4 &
1, is born.

The Cha Cha Cha (often shortened to just Cha Cha) is a Latin dance
that originated in Cuba, in the late 1940s. It is derived from 3 earlier
dance styles:

Danzón - The Cuban National Dance, popular in 1890s - 1920s

The Cuban Són - Mix of African instruments into Danzón music
Triple mambo - Marriage of Cuban Son & Swing
WALTZ
The waltz, meaning "to roll or revolve", is a ballroom
and folk dance, normally in time, performed
primarily in closed position.

First waltzes were danced in the location of today's

Germany and Austria, back in 13th century. The
style was immediately picked up by other nations,
who each created it's own form and style of the
dance. The form we know today was born in the
suburbs of Vienna and Austria's mountain regions
