Business Pitch Presentation for

Shoppers’ Aisle
Hello, my name is Adiela Ahiakwo, and I am starting a supermarket business to offer shoppers a variety
of quality products at affordable prices, using visual merchandising and online advertising to drive
sales.

In my hometown in Omoku, Rivers State, there are several convenient stores that reply on foot-traffic
to sell day-to-day goods. On holidays when our loved ones come home visiting, these stores experience
increase sales due to higher foot-traffic, however, when the holidays are over, patronage reduces
because they maximize sales using one income stream – which is foot-traffic.

In addition, the variety of quality products on display are based on customer demand, which attract
high prices for being short in supply. Customers either pay with displeasure, or settle for lesser
alternatives, but most times they leave the store and face the inconvenience of traveling elsewhere to
shop for their needs.

My interaction with some customers, also revealed that modern shoppers expect to shop in a smart
self – service store with flexible payment options, and given first-class service, all in a clean, organized
and attractive layout, which you don’t find in these convenient stores.

I am certain my business “Shoppers’ Aisle Supermarket”, can leverage on these openings to offer a
better solution, by sourcing and partnering with product manufacturers and top distributors, to obtain
a variety of quality goods at cheaper prices, and then employ visual merchandising techniques to
organize my store in a smart well-designed layout and eye-catching display of goods, to attractive
sales.

The supermarket industry is worth over a N100,000,000 (i.e., over $250,000) in Nigeria alone, and is
becoming the preferred place to shop. Although it is capital intensive, it is also profitable. Shoppers’
Aisle supermarket will serve the entire purchasing population in Omoku, employ a competent
workforce, and grow to be a trusted service.

Establishing our brand of service, amongst competitors, is a challenge we will face head-on, as we
reach out to more customers using online advertising like google ads and Facebook ads, or an online
store, which opens up multiple revenue streams other than foot-traffic. Our shoppers’ will receive
first-class service as we build customer loyalty, and fulfil our vision.

A $5,000 seed capital will keep-off my business to a functional state by:


 securing a sizable shop-space
 prepare an attractive store layout,
 construct racks and shelves,
 purchase a cash register and Point of Sale device, and
 obtain start-up essential goods from top distributors.

The business name is already registered and partnership with product distributors are in their final
stages. Your empowerment will make my business operational, create employment opportunities, as
well as bring modern shopping experience to my locality. It will offer shoppers quality products at
affordable prices.
