2nd September, 2021
Time: 1 hr 30 mins
Note:
• Please show step by step calculations for all the questions. Do not use final expressions
directly, otherwise marks will be deducted.
• Answers can be handwritten and scanned or, typed and directly uploaded to google
classroom.
• You need to submit/ upload your answer sheet by 1.30 PM today.
• For any queries contact the TAs Mr. Abhishek (abhishekmr19@iiserb.ac.in) and Mr.
Swapnendu (swapnendu19@iiserb.ac.in). They will be also available in the usual class
google meet link. If you have any queries you can login and ask directly.
• Submissions received after 1.30 PM will not be considered for evaluation.
• Your answer-sheet and file name of answer-sheet must contain your name and roll
number.
• For Any issue or confusion please contact Abhishek, Swapnendu or me.

1. Use any circuit analysis technique to find out the equivalent resistance between A and B terminal in
the circuit diagram given below. If node ‘A’ is connected to +100 V source and node ‘B’ is grounded
or at zero voltage then find the values of currents I1, I2, I3, I4.

Note: X is last two digits of your roll number. For example, if your roll is 201023 then X = 23 Ω; for
roll number 201105, X = 5 Ω. If your roll number is such that you are getting X = 0, then please use
X = 100, not zero.

3. For the circuit given below (a) compute the circuit time constant; (b) determine v in the instant just before
the switch is closed (at t = 0-); (c) obtain an expression for v(t) valid for t > 0; (d) calculate v at t = 3 ms (milli
second).
