Ethics act as a compass for a person's life path, leading them to the right

path.
The video showed me how bioethics is important in every aspects of life from the
smallest to big things in life. Being ethical and critical in decision making is one of our
responsibility as we transpire to be a nurse someday. Learning bioethics will help and
each and every one of us analyze what is right and what is wrong, give us in-depth
knowledge about patient’s right, and legal responsibilities as a nurse. Often times,
“principles” and our “ethical standpoint” is interchangeable. However, sometimes, what
we believe in and principles in life are not legally correct. It’s about time that we learn
that there is a separation between our values or principles and what is ethically right.
Say for example, if the patient decided to voluntary stop eating and drinking (VSED) and
for as long as we did our responsibilities as a nurse, we cannot force the patient to eat
nor drink. Not only in our personal lives, but also in nursing, ethics are crucial. Ethics is
what motivates us to tell the truth, keep our promises, and assist those in need.

Others say, learning ethics is boring but for me it’s not, it’s actually interesting
because studying ethics influence people and our way of thinking. This semester, I
expect that we’ve got to learn the ethical and moral responsibilities of a nurse in the
different department of the hospital and that we get to apply these learning in our
Related Learning Experience and as we embrace the transition to face-to-face classes.
