Project proposal

(Section 1)

10 practitioners studied this year

 Alex Hassell - Alex is a Shakespearean actor, he helped me learn the differences between
Shakespearean acting and “normal” acting.
 Stanislavsky – practitioner, who helped me do a series of things to get into a character and
helped develop my character understanding.
 Laban – movement, helped me use movement in theatre, also helped me get out of my
comfort zone to do new things.
 Charlie Chaplin – film actor, helped me to use melodramatic acting on screen. Also well
known as the original comedy actor, revolutionised acting for screen.
 Shakespeare – writer, helped me understand older text and older English, helped me to
understand old English.
 Rebecca Lenkiewicz – writer, I learnt about analysing text and applying that to stage work.
 Stanley Kubrick – producer and director, I used some of his filming techniques to make my
work more professional and evidential.
 Edgar write – director and producer, helped me to use new filming techniques and get more
experimental whilst filming. Used it in Antigone screenplay.
 Max Schreck – actor, first vampire actor, I learnt a lot about melodramatics in very early
films. Also used very original and low budget ideas.
 Marlon Brando – actor, we used his acting to help us analyse a character and their different
emotional states.

3 practitioners

The three practitioners who have the biggest impact on me this year would have been Stanislavsky,
Laban, and Edgar write.

Stanislavski – the reason I chose Stanislavski was because I didn’t really know how to get into
character, I used some of his techniques and I could see a big development in my style of acting. To
achieve this, I used a lot of trial and error, peer- assessment and I got a lot of help from teachers in
being told how to do certain things.

Edgar write - I used his methods and research to create my own style of filming. His techniques
helped me solve lots of filming and made my piece of work better. It was very much trial and error
although I followed his style, when doing this it was on the spot so next time I need to plan. I love his
filming, planning, characterisation, I used his ideas to make my screen plays better.

Laban – at the started I hated movement, but after some research and improvement I think, Laban
has safely helped to escape the comfort zone. this whole idea of movement was a completely new
idea to me and was hard to properly get into it. The comfort zone was such a difficult place for me to
be and I loved staying in it so when this opportunity came to escape, I slowly escaped.

1 practitioner
The single practitioner that has influenced me the most would be Stanislavski; I came into this
course with little to no knowledge on practitioners, so his knowledge and methods have helped me
the most when applied to my work.

Chose 1 aim

By the end of this project, I need to achieve a detail character understanding, in short terms a
believable character identity, this will push me out of my comfort zone and make me take more risks
in the final piece, it will also develop my skills as an actor.

Project proposal 1
Over the course of the year, I have studied these 10 practitioners: Alex Hassell, Stanislavski, Laban,
Charlie Chaplin, Shakespeare, Rebecca Lenkiewicz, Stanley Kubrick, Edgar write, max Schreck,
Marlon Brando. From these practitioners I have learnt things like character, analysing text, different
style of acting, and emotional states. However, over the course of the year I have benefitted from
these 3 practitioners the most: Stanislavski, Laban, Edgar write. Stanislavski has helped me with
getting into character. Laban has helped me a lot because I didn’t really enjoy movement and it
helped me escape my comfort zone, it has opened a whole new world to me. Finally, Edgar helped
me use new cinematography skills to enhance the level of my work. After much consideration I have
chosen to focus on Stanislavski, the reason for this is I want to develop my character
understanding/identity; and using his skills and techniques he will be the best practitioner to use.

I want to further understand my characters motivations and understand why my character does
what they do. It also comes down to reciting dialogue and completely understanding why my
character does what they do to create the most powerful and meaningful performance.

Stanislavski has so much knowledge in this field that I believe it will be a no-brainer to completing
this work at a high standard.

(Section 2)
Pre-production:

 Calendar – to sort my targets out

 Targets – need to create my targets using my proposal and a clear plan
 Swot – need to use my targets and proposal to create my detailed SWOT
 Research – need to do research on Stanislavsky's techniques, and subjects surrounding the
events of the FMP
 Enquiry – enquire about things I'm unsure about, because I don’t want to get stuck behind
 Investigation – investigate new ways of working and find out what suits me best

Production:

 Calendar – using this to stay on track with my targets and check in on them every week
 Taking risks – taking more risks could make or break, be confident in ideas, sign on growth
 Observation - I know observing others isn't a good idea, but it can work as an indication of
the standard of my work
 Exploration – trying new skills whether it be cinematography, acting or learning
 Experimentation – only experiment if you have time at the end, keep on calendar otherwise
 Rehearsal – rehearse lots so I'm ahead and overprepare
 Practice time – same as rehearsing, make sure everything is correctly in place

Postproduction:

 Reflection
 Evaluation
 Self-assessment
 Analysis
 Peer-assessment

Proposal 2
Within my pre-production planning I will use these skills and their benefits: calendar, targets, SWOT,
research, enquiry and investigation. I will use my calendar to sort my targets out and have them
ready so when I come to meet deadlines, I don’t miss them. I will use research and investigation to
find new techniques and subjects and find new ways of learning to extend the depth of my learning.
By using investigation, I can find out more about Stanislavski technique. In production I will again use
calendar to stay on track and keep up with everything that needs to be done. By using the calendar,
it helps me keep on track of my aim. I will also use exploration and experimentation to try new skills
and develop my practice work. In my postproduction I will use reflection, evaluation, and peer-
assessment to help me figure out how far I have progressed as an actor and what I could do better
next time. Finally, I will use peer feedback to understand whether I am getting closer to completing
my target and staying on track, these tools will help me complete my aim and I will use them wisely
and effectively to achieve them by the end of this work.

(Section 3)
The tools of productivity I will use to measure my success and outcomes would be SWOT, targets,
peer-assessment, vlog analysis, proof of learning. I will use these tools to help me measure the rate
of my success. I could also use a numerical score from others to tell me how far I progressed or what
I need to do differently next time.

Proposal 3
I will determine the success of my project by evaluating and assessing my evidence by using a
numerical graph throughout the process to mark my learning. I have produced my stated aims and
objectives above. I will complete this by using SWOT, targets, peer-assessment, vlog analysis, and
learning outcomes proved in my learning. In my SWOT I will use it to make sure my outcomes meet
my project aim, this will help me analyse how far my learning is coming, and I can use it within the
course of my time. I will also use peer-assessment, and self-assessment this will help me take
constructive criticism from others because I may be too harsh on myself or not harsh enough,
meaning I need to put in more effort. I will also use vlog analysis to visualize and show my learning
through my work, this can help my grader mark me better as I am explaining my thought process
within my work time. To conclude I have found my aim and will be using Stanislavski technique to
help me complete it, found the methods of completing my aim and how I will assess myself once
completing the aim.
