Signal Inversion with FI Application in MKM

The control of the motor drives of the conveyors can be effected through MKM boxes, which are
either equipped with an electronic reversing relay or an inverter.
Generally, these are delivered by the sub-supplier premounted and parameterised to the
conveyors.
The condition of the control device is signalled via an output, which is evaluated and displayed
by the control.

Electronic Reversing Relay

The make-contact element signals the fault and is switched parallel to the make-contact
element of the thermistor-evaluating device.
This means that in case of fault the signal is active!

In some cases it may be necessary to replace the reversing relay by an FI in order to realize
different speeds.

For a troublefree replacing of an MKM with electronic reversing relay by an inverter, the
response of the output shall have the same meaning for the operating condition.
Normally the inverter appropriately signals the status „ ready to operate“.

Emerson (Commander SK) Inverter (Output: Relay)

Normally the output is switched to “ready to operate”.
To invert the signal, the “hidden parameter” 8.17 (inverting the status relay) is altered in the
course of the pre-parameterization (Kaul, Wolff). This is not mentioned in the parameter list!
To check the setting in case of need or to carry out a correction, this parameter has first to be
made accessible.

NORDAC SK500E
For a certain period NORDAC inverters had been used, because Emerson devices were not
available.
The output with NORDAC is normally switched to „ready to operate“ (view below).
To invert the signal also in this case the relay polarity is to be altered (Par. 442). Normally this
is not made at the time of pre-parameterization.

Total trouble message, trouble is active or not yet acknowledged.

Æ The setting for the output should better read „ready to operate“.
