Setting Information
Welcome to the world of Pokemon!
In the north of one of the many regions in the world, tucked away from the rest of it all by a
mountain range known as Salamence Crescent. Dominating the landscape is the city of
Euneluton, known for its pokeball factories. It is in a constant crawl across what is left of the
wild areas to sufficiently support the growing population.

The Region
Myth
There was once an ancient city that spanned from the mountains to the coast. They were a
peaceful civilization, investing heavily into the study of the beings that created the foundation
of the world. The gods, believing them to be advancing too far, had sent an emissary to foretell
the destruction that awaited those who looked too closely. Despite this, the people did not heed
the warning. Days later, a mountain exploded into fire and ash. The city was largely unscathed,
but the quakes had shaken the earth to its core. Within the coming weeks, a grand wave sank
half of the city and laid the rest to ruins.

Such a story is often told to those who have ambitions that fall beyond the scope of any given
thing.

Present Day
The region is thriving in the post-civil war environment. Tensions are still high in the
neighbouring regions and many say that the wrong political move on either end of the scale
could throw the entire thing into chaos once more. The demand for pokeballs is at an all-time
high as many people prepare for the best and worst that might arise within the next five years,
if not less.

Euneluton City
Euneluton is a planned city. Everything that is constructed falls within an overall design that
has been established from the city’s beginning. Closer to the mountains of Salamence Crescent
are the factories and workshops that comprise the thriving pokeball scene while further to the
south are the various orchards for the apricorns. Northwards and to the east is where general
businesses and housing belong. Many of the buildings are carefully constructed so they do not
rise high enough that they may be visible beyond the mountain range.

The architecture is mostly in the name of sleek modernism. Buildings are built for function
over aesthetic, though there are a good number of them that are still made with more fanciful
appearances in mind.

Real estate is at a premium in some parts of the city. It is not uncommon to pay upwards one
hundred and fifty thousand pokedollars for a studio apartment with a good view of the city as it
progresses outwards. The best houses are closer to the mountains while better and better
apartments are being made with a view of the coast and the archipelago that extends in a
graceful curl away from the mainland. Pokemon centres are common, many of them
functioning as a place to rest, buy and sell items and heal one’s Pokemon. At times, there might
even be a cafe or similar place in a corner of select Pokemon centres.

There are no League-sanctioned gyms in the city. At one point there had been a notification to
all citizens that there will not be a gym now or in the future. Regardless, those who wish to
participate in official battles elsewhere in the region are still issued a League Trainer ID; those

who are not interested in the lifestyle of a League Trainer are still issued Trainer IDs in order to
allow pokeballs to sync properly and show an accurate record of who owns what and so on.

At this time, the city is roughly 876 sq.km across. It takes five hours by straight flight, three to
four days by vehicle or fast Pokemon and roughly six days by foot to reach the coast.

Popular Destinations
A popular hotel is known as The Garden Wall. The greenery and garden aesthetic is appreciated
by many, especially those who might stop by the gated gardens in order to catch one of the rare
Pokemon that roam about within. There is a fee to just catch Pokemon and it is considered one
of the more expensive ventures in the city at roughly twenty thousand pokedollars for a few
hours in the gardens and ten specialty pokeballs known as ‘Garden Balls’.

The restaurant chain Arcaninia is well-known for its warm colours and promotion of
homemade cooking. Tourists find the place charming, especially with the Arcanine and
Growlithe theme. A few friendly Growlithe patrol the restaurant and are endearingly friendly
to all.

Another fast food chain is Pansear’s. It focuses on fried foods and often runs specials for a
variety of menu-items. Their delivery system is one of the best in the city. Many branches can
be found all over, though certain cities have exclusive items that cannot be found anywhere
else. Euneluton City is known for its crunchy ice cream.

The Pokeball factories are often off-limits for all visitation purposes except on certain days. The
tours teach about the process used to make the pokeballs and where they are shipped to. Those
who participate usually get to carry home a few extra pokeballs of various kinds.

Other Locations
There is a cave that has opened up along with the ruins in the northern part of the city. It is
frigid and nobody has gone on ahead due to the glacial temperatures and the extremely rugged
interior.

Public Services
While Pokemon centres are free for all to use, they are only for Pokemon. When humans are
injured, they need to be transported to conventional hospitals depending on the severity of the
wounds. While Pokemon have a form of miracle healing, their bodies are more attuned to the
natural energies of the world. Hospital fees are mostly offset by insurance and, in the case of
League Trainers participating in League challenges, sometimes waved entirely by the
formidable entity that is the Regional League. Others are not so lucky and have to pay
thousands to hundreds of thousands in medical bills.

Due to the post-war environment, however, hospitals are much more affordable. Euneluton
City has a division of hospitals dedicated to veteran care and helping those who might be
suffering medical complications as a result of the war. They are well-funded but supplies are in
short supply. Medical Pokemon such as Audino are purchased or rented wherever possible so
as to ensure that the exhausted Pokemon are constantly being cycled out.

The City’s police division is extremely competent, but there have not been many cases of
serious crime. The other regions have reported, begrudgingly, a high number of theft and other
malicious actions but Euneluton boasts a fairly low crime rate. Many suspect that such a peace
will not last forever while others whisper that the police are being paid off to ignore a handful
of crimes that have been cropping up lately. For the most part these have been a high number
of missing person reports since the ruins have been uncovered.
Electricity is supplied to the entire city. Outrages are regulated for maintenance and all wires
are underground. Any that are above ground are usually temporary or directed to construction
sites so that the wilds may be urbanised faster. Electricity is mainly generated by the likes of
the Magnemite and Klink lines, both of which work in tandem to create a system that is
difficult to stop without following procedure.

Euneluton City does not have much in the way of a military, especially considering the state of
the surrounding area. Many who have joined are primarily stationed at the border in order to
ensure that the war stays out and away. There are worries about what might happen if the
pokeball factory and surrounding city was targeted and there has only been a declaration of
neutrality to soothe the worries of the public.

Aaltere Ruins
Ruins that have been unearthed in a recent excavation project in order to prepare the land for
more buildings. These ruins go down several stories, each of them complete with streets and
houses that are partially or fully collapsed. Much of the foundations are still intact, even if it
appears that they are unstable. Rubble has blocked off streets and buildings; this rubble, over
time, had been ground into dirt and dust to help be a foundation for the land overhead.

Much of the walls are covered in dusty frescos that depict gods, people and Pokemon living
day-to-day. Many more are murals of tile and glass and precious stone. Of the cloth recovered,
it can be inferred that the daily lives of these people revolved around these tales of legend and
myth. Researchers are hoping for documents and papers that might detail the day-to-day life
of those who lived in this place.

The ruins are still being explored and there is rumour of great treasure to be found… Many
people have gone missing as a result.

Salamence Crescent
A dangerous stretch of mountains that has a peculiar crescent shape, named after the gathering
of Salamence that are believed to be hidden somewhere within. Many of the peaks rise into the
clouds and the temperatures are known to be particularly fickle with the different Pokemon
that live there. Scaling the mountain is a challenge that many back down from for fear of losing
their lives.

Pokemon that live here are typically Flying, Rock, Ice and Dragon-typed. Rumours of
Salamence are abound, though not many people report seeing any.

Charcoal Woods
A patch of heavily forested area south of the city and orchards. Despite the lush environment,
it is a site of frequent fires. Many Pokemon that live here enjoy the higher-than-usual
temperatures and the smouldering underbrush that is frequently flickering with embers after
vicious fights. Trainers are advised not to approach unless they have proven their strength
against a number of Gyms.

Pokemon that live here are typically Fire and Grass type. It is said a Charizard makes its nest
here which is unusual for the usually mountain-dwelling species.

Haven
A cluster of large trees that have, over and over, survived the flash fires that ravage the forest.
They are evergreens and nobody can quite say what the cause for this is. Many guess it is the

work of the grass-types that still reside there. Granted that is the most acceptable reason, it is
not questioned further.

Standing Stones
Several obelisk-like stones stand at attention, each of them tapering towards the top with a hole
anywhere from the middle to the top of the structure. It is said that seeing through these holes
will grant one the ability to see into the future. Within the stones’ vaguely circular positions is
grass that is notably greener than it is outside. Mushrooms and other small plants sprout up
around this grass often, leading many to believe it is of some importance.

Myth
Once, it is said that the stones lit up in a brilliant blue-green glow before the light washed over
the land. This happened sometime between midnight and three in the morning. No video
evidence had been taken and there had been no resulting outcome from this happening. It
never happened again.

Luminous Springs
The largest lake in the region. Luminous Springs is called as such due to the light that reflects
from the bottom. Said to be because of the Shiny Stones at the bottom, not many have delved
into it more than that due to the depths of the lake itself. A natural dam prevents water from
flooding the plains below.

Amalgamate Plains
Usually just called “the plains”. This vast expanse has a mix of many landscapes but none are
particularly differentiated between by more than arbitrary nicknames. Many businesses are
eager to begin converting the land into housing or more orchards for the pokeball industry.

Lush Plains
Relatively flat land that is known for its brilliant greenery. Many trees grow here in clusters,
especially berry trees. Large, smooth rocks dot the landscape, many of which are massive
boulders that trainers often like to scale to get a view of the surrounding area.

Drylands
A rocky section of the plains. There are a lot of cliffs and sharp drops, many of which go
straight into a deep and easily missed ravine. There was a river that ran through here once, as
indicated by the stretches of sand. Despite how hostile it appears, there are patches of
greenery all about. Some areas seem warmer than others for no discernible reason.

Myth
It is said that there is a kingdom of Pokemon living within the ravine. The biggest trick is to
find it, but some claim that it is lit up by Sun stones and kept warm by Fire stones. If such a
place did exist, it would no doubt be worth a fortune.

Mirror Grassland
Normally an unremarkable spot of the plains, it is so perfectly flat that when it rains, it often
creates a mirror that reflects the sky once more. Pieces of ruins, such as columns and other
sturdy places are frequent sights, often bordered with a rare flower.

It is said that a king lives here still, though many debate on what that means exactly.

Dead Zone
A stagnant lake. It is very shallow and hosts no life whatsoever. The rocks here are like teeth
and many of them are sun bleached white. The Pokemon that do travel through these areas
tend to go through quickly. There are many ruins here, many of which lead down into dark
depths that only the bravest explore.

Pique Woods
A large swathe of woodland that borders the lush grasslands. It stretches towards the coast,
though not much is publicly recorded about the area. The government periodically sends a
team of researchers to ensure the Pokemon population is healthy but otherwise trainers are
forbidden from going to the woods without express permission.

There are trained personnel that patrol the border to ensure that this is respected.

Within is said to be home to a truly rare Pokemon, one that has not been seen for generations.
Others claim that that was where the precious evolution stones are mined; it is known that Leaf
stones can be found periodically about the lush grasslands. Some even say that there is a secret
government facility within that is plotting the end of the world.

Fell Hollow
The name given to one gigantic tree that has been growing within the woods near the coast.
Many do not travel there as the city's government heavily sanctions those who do, citing that it
is potentially disturbing protected wildlife. As a result, the place is surrounded by rumour and
stories that tell of the bad children that are spirited away. There are real horror stories as well,
but many do not speak of them.

At night, its leaves come alive with the glowing of many Pokemon. It can be seen from the city,
especially when there are scheduled outages.

Occupation Information
Trainers
Everyone is a trainer. People use Pokemon almost every day, be it for work, to battle or as
companions. As a result of this wide-spread use of Pokemon, the ‘Trainer’ identity has been
split into Trainers and League Trainers, or those who plan to battle the Gyms that have been
designated by the League.

League Trainers
Those who have, or intend to battle the Gyms to challenge the League. These Gyms are located
in the political unstable region that borders the pocket of space Eunelution City is hidden
within. There are twelve Gyms in total but a maximum of eight of their badges are required in
order to progress to the League itself.

A journey like this can take several years and often does. Most start when they are teenagers
and have certification from a given city’s Trainer School in order to pursue further. Those who
are older need to register at the League outlet in a City. From there, a suggested path is given
though the League Trainer is free to go ahead and pick their own. They must manage a team
while on the road, as each Gym is required to use more and more Pokemon depending on the
progress of the trainer.

Badges of the Gyms are seen as measures of that trainer’s worth and battle capability. These
are the people called upon when disaster strikes and they are expected to work together in
order to quell the issue.

Civil War
Due to the war efforts, league trainers are viewed as a means to an end. The ones with more
badges are even hired as mercenaries in order to violate League rules in order to attack others,
protect an area and so forth. Usually they are provided with specifically raised Pokemon in
order to fulfil their role as mercenary.

Most soldiers are league trainers at some point in their lives. Very few veterans return to being
league trainers after service. Those who do are usually monitored closely by the League and
are typically encouraged to always be in groups to prevent “mishaps”.

Other Occupations
The world of Pokemon is vast. Many occupations are available to both humans and Pokemon.
Pokemon typically perform manual labour or they are measures to ensure that things work as
intended. Humans are the ones who orchestrate these plans in the first place and are
responsible for general management of everything.

Due to the wondrous powers of Pokemon, a lot of occupations require bonding with a rented
Pokemon for a given task (such as a fire-type to assist in cooking, an electric or steel-type to
help with railway management and so on) or they must have their own that can fulfil a similar
role. Pokemon are never “retired” as they are simply removed from service for a period until
needed again.

Less Than Legal Occupations

Thieves, con artists and more will forever roam the streets. Often, they are brought in by the
local police force or hunted by the Regional League. Other times they are much more suave and
hidden. To those in the know, it is a little difficult to get in and around without knowing who to
speak to; the police have noted a variety of passwords and symbols marked about the city and
have related a handful of occurrences together but each suspected member of the team refuses

to speak to their loyalties. Those who have typically gone missing. The police members that
find out anything also never are around for long.

The Military and War
In recent years, there has been a civil war that has been on-and-off for a lifetime. Neither side
has fully committed as yet, nor made public declarations of war.

On one side, there are those from the western side of the region; these people believe that there
are measures being taken to take Pokemon from their trainers, that there is a variety of
injustices abound that all aim towards restricting what it is that people and Pokemon can do in
the world. They want to ensure that life can be shared with Pokemon. In the eastern side of the
region, people desire more security for themselves and their family. Pokemon attacks are
common along the roads between cities and towns and they want that to stop, some requesting
that the Pokemon be outright removed from the area or put down.

The major cities on either side have been at conflict due to these beliefs for a while until it
devolved into war due to what is suspected to be an assassination attempt on the eastern city’s
leader. Many names are outright omitted from media in Eunelution City if it is covered at all;
while the news of impending war is not new nor is it heavily censored, their stance of
‘neutrality’ is to be passive and ignore what could be. Many citizens dislike such a policy, but
nobody is willing to step up to do something about it due to the tensions already present on the
outside.

Soldiers, Mercenaries and More

On either side, soldiers and more are employed. It is common for teenagers out of the trainer
schools to be pressured into the role due to the constant need for more firepower. Any new
talent is welcomed. Those who are drafted are subjected to several months’ worth of training.
If the person does not own a Pokemon, they are expected to go out-- sometimes in groups,
sometimes under supervision-- to catch one of their own. Such a policy has been harshly
ridiculed due to a group of four teenagers having died to a Nidoking when he had been
defending his offspring.

The last real confrontation, that everyone was called to arms for, was three years before the
current year. The western cities had employed an unnamed trainer with a Gyarados that
nobody had seen before; it had grown to substantial sizes in a burst of rainbow light and had
razed an opposing town in a fiery blast that had left very few survivors. Such power has never
been demonstrated since, the trainer having since vanished without a trace; not even the best
Stoutland and Arcanine from the International Police could figure out who or what or why.

Several smaller skirmishes have happened since, usually attacking the borders under pretence
of being bandits, wild Pokemon and more. Often this will extend into the larger cities,
sabotaging electricity and water supplies and more.

The Veterans
The soldiers who have been injured on either side are sometimes sent to Eunelution City. They
are treated promptly as there are hospitals dedicated to care of people affected by the war.
Those who physically recover are often returned home, but fewer still are allowed to stay.
These are the ones who have to sign a contract in order to seek help for any ailments, be it for
themselves or their Pokemon, and abide by the neutral law of the City.

Those that do are often haunted citizens that are avoided by most. They are given shelter in the
form of an apartment in a district that has been renovated specifically for their use. Food and
water is supplied and people are employed to assist in the upkeep of the living space at no
additional cost. It is assumed by many that the other cities are paying for such luxuries though
no official statement has been made to clarify.

Why It Does Not Affect Eunelution City
The mountain range, Salamence Crescent, for one is very difficult to traverse even by ways of
flying Pokemon. The City is only accessible by either sea or a narrow slip of land that connects
to the outside world. Eunelution has, repeatedly, stated that it will not be officially helping
either side; the League backs the neutral state and has subtly threatened to send some of their
top trainers in order to provide support where it might be needed.

Rumour
It is said that where there is water, some unlucky people on ships have instead seen a vast
stretch of land, conquered by regal towers and architecture much unlike the present city.
Usually this is chalked up to dehydration or a mirage. Occasionally, people say they see a
massive, dragon-like being before it vanishes in a blink. It is believed that there is something
that protects the city, but nobody can say what exactly as there are Pokemon known to conjure
illusions.

Pokemon
Pokemon. Creatures that inhabit the world that have been here for longer than anyone
remembers. Sometimes new species are discovered, or new forms of. They are all capable of
tapping into primal energies that humans only have access to in the most basic of ways; for
instance, no human is known to be able to breathe fire, but there are reports of psychics and
so-called ‘aura users’. These have little basis, however.

Trainers and Pokemon

All trainers are expected to get their own Pokemon. Many of them are sold in shops that may or
may not be reputable. There are also shelters that house the abandoned, the injured and those
who are too friendly for their own good. Another option is to contact a breeder, though their
prices tend to be exorbitant due to the nature of breeders typically having some of the best
Pokemon available to anyone.

Of course, the most romanticised option in popular media is to go out and catch your own.
Often this is an extremely dangerous task that is only attempted by those with a Pokemon that
can fight to some degree as it is.

Wild Pokemon
Wild Pokemon are those that do not have a trainer. Their temperament varies and many of
them possess a very basic way of approaching their day-to-day life in comparison to the myriad
of ways that humans might try to do a similar task. Their types also vary, though it is often tied
with the location they are found in; water-types, for instance, tend to be most common in
wetlands, rivers and in the ocean.

When captured by a pokeball, a Pokemon is then registered to that trainer’s ID. This does not
guarantee their friendship nor loyalty, however, as many are known to continue attacking their
new trainer or other Pokemon with little regard for what is being told. While many will argue
that more Gym badges equals an automatic respect from many, this is not true. Still, the
rumour is perpetuated fiercely.

There have been observed ‘communities’ of Pokemon, though these are short-lived for the most
part. It always starts with an area that is capable of sustaining more than a handful of Pokemon
before they begin to do simple things such as give one another food. Such behaviour is rarely
recorded and often cited as being an attempt to humanise Pokemon, especially as a good
portion of them are humanoid in appearance.

Myth
It is said that there is a creature that sleeps somewhere under the city. Descriptions of it vary
wildly from a small, green sprite to a being of lava that bubbles and boils as it moves.
Regardless, some people have claimed to have felt the earth’s heartbeat in their dreams; such a
thing is not a one-time occurrence as many people have talked about it for roughly a month
before all had quieted down.

Other Information
Mega Evolution, Dynamax and Z-Crystals
Mega evolution, dynamax and z-crystals do not exist in this world. There may be instances of
it, but it is not going to be a thing that is given out frequently, if at all.

Being Caught
When the players are Pokemon, it brings up the question of what if they are caught? In order to
escape capture, it is generally a good idea to stay away from human settlements and interact
with them for the bare minimum of things required. However, if one wants to interact with
them and risk capture, it will be a

Expectations
This will be play-by-post. With luck, the plot does not take one plus years to complete and can
be resolved within a few months.

If there is an issue, be it in the books themselves or with how things are being run, please bring
it up so that it may be addressed. The same goes for if there is an issue with another player.

Player Information
In order to join, please read the document provided. All players will be required to come up
with a concept of their characters as both a human and Pokemon. Players will collaborate to
create characters once they have been invited to the server.

Things to keep in mind when making a character:

● All players will have an Ameteur, Adult (18+) human character.
○ A sheet for the character as a human is required.
○ Your character may have up to three Pokemon maximum. A sheet for each of
them is not required.
○ If there are tidbits about your character’s life that you would like to be
acknowledged (such as being from a family known for their altruism, having
caught a rare Pokemon, etc.) please have it written on a document to be
submitted as well.
■ Some things will be under heavy scrutiny, however it is always possible
to tweak and adjust things so that it better fits the setting.
■ Precious items, be it a heirloom, something notable the character carries
and so on may be included with a snippet of background information.

● This human character will be turned into a Pokemon.

○ Choose a Pokemon that is either the first-stage in its evolutionary line or a
non-evolving Pokemon.
■ Some Pokemon will be restricted.
● Legendaries, mythicals and UBs are not allowed.
■ It is preferable to have a land-dwelling species of some kind and
something capable, of some degree, of manipulating objects.

● All characters should have at least one connection to another player’s character. This
may be in the form of a rivalry, familial relationship or whatever else is agreed upon. If
someone wants to form a connection with another player’s character, that does not
count to that player’s connection limit.
○ If player 1 wants a connection with player 2, then player 2 will also need a
different connection to count towards the “one connection per player”
minimum.

Spectators
They are allowed. A spectator may also contribute potential NPC ideas and so forth if they feel
so inclined. There is a limit of doing this once a week.

Rules and Edits Made
Creating a Pokemon
All players will be using the same standard provided in the Corebook when making a Pokemon
while following the information pertained in the PMd module, give or take the following
changes:
● All players begin with one point in all social attributes. Follow the additional points
given for Teens (+2 attribute/social points).
● Players’ rank will be Starter when determining all additional points (5 skill points total,
max of 1 in any skill).
○ Rank will fluctuate depending on Logic and Primal score.
■ For every 3-5 battles won, a player may “purchase” a move of their
current rank or lower for use regardless of current rank.
○ Ranks will rise with victories. Every 5-10 victories will result in a rank up.

Movesets
Periodically, the chance to learn a new move not listed on the pokerole corebook will present
itself. This will be taken from the most recent listing available.

In regards to homebrew corrections/updates for the PMD module to 2.0

Specifically, this is in regards to this update by wanderer-of-time, this crafting system by
TokoWH and the meld moves system by karserus.

1. The homebrewed update does reflect mostly on the hopes for how the PMD’s system
will be used. It will be referenced but does not have to be taken as the rule.
2. The crafting system will be used as best as I can manage it. Feel free to read it and get to
know the rules.
3. The meld moves ruling can be used, though later in the campaign. It will require a Logic
score of 2+.

Skills and Ranking Up

If there is a need to balance skills and give more variation for things, I will look into things later.

Any other edits will be made note of here, potentially.
