8200 Dragline Fire Suppression System Recommendations:

General Description:

A Fire Suppression System will be required to protect various electrical compartments and mechanical
areas throughout the Dragline. The Dragline will be broken down into several zones which are to be
determined by equipment type and relative location. Each zone is to have sufficient means for detection
and suppression for the area / equipment being discussed.

All electrical compartments (including the High Voltage Collector Rings, APT Transformer Enclosure, DPT
Transformer Enclosures, Power Panels, MCC Panels and the MRC Cabinets) are to be protected by
FE13, and mechanical areas (including the Propel Enclosures, Lube Room, and Swing Rack and Rollers)
are to be protected with Dry Chemical. Electrical areas will utilize combinations of Photoelectric and
Ionization Smoke Detectors, and Mechanical areas will employ Heat Detectors with option pricing for the
implementation of Infra-Red Detection.

Any point of Smoke / Heat / IR Detection will trigger an alarm, but two sensing points from any detection
zone will be required to employ an automatic discharge. Each zone is to be equipped with Manual Pull
Stations at points of egress (from that specific zone), with another Manual Pull Station (per zone) at a
Remote Panel to be located near a designated Exit from the Machine House. All Manual Pull Stations
are to be clearly identified by discharge Zone.

The Fire Suppression System is to employ a single control panel to be mounted within the Machine
House, and a Remote Display / Annunciator Panel to be provided within site of the Operator. All
detectors / pull stations should be addressable, and the control panel fully programmable / Ethernet
capable. The control panel is to include a means for isolating automated detection / discharge features
for regular maintenance activities, and two sets of System Alarm / Discharge indications (Form C, dry
contacts) for interfacing with the Dragline PLC.

For potentially occupied spaces (including the Lube Room, DPT Transformer Housing, Propel Housing,
and Swing Rack / Roller area), it is desired to have an option for pre-discharge alarms to allow personnel
to evacuate these areas.

Suggested Protection Zones and Specific Area Descriptions:

Based on the location and groupings of certain equipment, we have suggested the following Protection
zones.

1) DPT Transformer Enclosures (Left and Right).

2) APT Enclosure/Cabinet
3) Propel Enclosures (Left and Right).
4) Lube Room:
5) Ring Gear Area:
6) Power Panels and MCC.
7) Power panels, LTT & CVT
8) MRC Cabinets (Left and Right).
9) High Voltage Collector Rings.

While open to alternative protection / discharge zone configurations, vendors should refer to the Specific
Area Descriptions, applicable drawings, and supplemental materials provided along with this request for
quote.
Suggested Protection Zones and Specific Area Descriptions: cont’d

1) DPT Transformer Enclosures (Left and Right).

The DPT Transformers (126”W x 112”D x 122”H) are indoor rated with open grate paneling, and will
be housed within designated Enclosures (167” x 192” x 160”) on the left and right hand sides of the
Dragline. The Enclosures have two points of entry / egress, and have manually adjusted louvers on
two side (approximately 32” x 52”) and the access doors have fixed louvers.

While the option exists to house detection / suppression equipment on the Transformers themselves,
internal clearances would have to be maintained for consideration. Consideration of having to
remove the DPT Enclosure Roof and Transformer at some point in the future should be reflected in
the detection / suppression design.

2) APT Transformer Enclosure

The APT Transformer (86W” x 62D” x 94H”) is indoor rated with open grate paneling, and will be
located on the machine deck to the rear of the right hand propel gear case.

3) Propel Enclosures (Left and Right).

The Propel Enclosures (approx. 387”L x 97”W x 161”H) house the walking arm and eccentric on
either side of the Dragline. There are two points of entry / egress at either end of the enclosures, and
a hole in the floor (approx dimension 300” x 36”) that the Propel Linkage Assembly passes through.

Similar to the DPT Enclosures, consideration of having to remove the Propel Enclosure Roof Panels
at some point in the future should be reflected in the detection / suppression design.

4) Lube Room:

The Lube Room (approx. 256” x 128” x 180”) has one main door providing access to / from the
Machine House (point of egress), and a set of external doors used to bring in large barrels of Lube
etc. via the Jib Crane. There will be three Lube Storage Tanks (1 - Open Gear Lube, 1 - Multi-
purpose Grease, and 1 - Wire Rope Lube), and a series of Pipes, Pumps, Valves, and related
controls for distribution purposes.

5) Ring Gear Area:

The Swing Rack has an approximate radius of 256” with pinions facing the center of the machine.
There are 4 Swing Motors / Pinions making contact with the left and right halves of the Swing Rack
(though not equally spaced around the gear). There is one main access to the inner circle, and one
open grate inspection cover for the Swing Rack towards the front of the Revolving Frame
(approximate dimensions just larger than 1 rack segment).

Workspace is limited within the inner circle and suppressant tanks would have to be located in the
revolving frame.
Suggested Protection Zones and Specific Area Descriptions: cont’d

6) Power Panels, and MCC.

Low Voltage Power distribution is handled via a Power Panel, and 3 MCC Sections placed on the
Right hand side of the machine.

The Power Panel has two sections (35” x 40” x 90” each) with open wire ways along the top, bottom,
and relatively open internal construction. One section would be for the incoming supply, the other for
distributed feeds to each of the MCCs.

Each of the MCC Line-ups vary in size (some have more sections than others), but all internal
sections have the same overall characteristics / dimensions – there are open wire ways at the top,
bottom and up the right hand sides of each section, and each section has an overall dimension of 20”
x 20” x 90”.

The Power Panel, and MCC Line-ups run in close proximity to the outer walls of the Machine House,
are mounted on an elevated platform, and face the neighboring MRC Skid. Immediately above the
Power Panel / MCC / MRC Skids is a Reactor Platform Assembly. Due to the proximity of this
platform, and the varying cable runs that pass overhead, there is a limited amount of space available
for employing Fire Suppression System Piping.

7) MRC Cabinets (Skids) (Left and Right).

There are two MRC Skids one on each side of the machine. Each Skid has 12 internal sections (6
front / back) with sub-splitting of upper and lower compartments in half of the sections. The inner four
sections (front and back) hold the major power conversion elements, while the outer two hold Liquid
Cooling Piping Assemblies and Drive / PLC Control Hardware. There are various openings /
channels between sections and compartments for routing of control wiring / cabling / bus bars etc.

Power Cables enter the Skids from the top of the four back-middle sections, and exit out of the
bottom of the same sections. As mentioned above, the MRC Skids are mounted opposite to the
Power Panel and MCC Line-ups, and reside immediately beneath the Reactor Platform Assembly.
Again, due to the proximity of this platform and the varying cable runs that pass overhead, there is a
limited amount of space available for employing Fire Suppression System Piping.

Removable panels are provided in te top of the cabinets for installation of fire suppression equipment
and are the only locations where entry to the cabinets is permitted.

8) High Voltage Collector Rings.

The High Voltage Collector Rings are located at the center of rotation within the Revolving Frame
Assembly. They are housed in a compartment approximately 83” W x 83” L x 108” H with two
restricted access points (Front and Back side doors are Kirk- key interlocked). While mounting of
Smoke Detection Sensors should not be a problem, placement of Suppression Tanks and Nozzles
will have to be pre-approved.
Installation Restrictions / Requirements:

Areas above the MCC and MRC Skids are very restrictive. Piping to discharge nozzles will have to
accommodate frame support structures and cabling.

The space between the Power Panels / MCC Panels and the Left and Right Machine House walls is
limited. While suppression tanks can be stored in these areas, access is restricted overhead (Reactor
Platform / Cable Tray Routing) and on the Floor Level (Cable Trays and MRC Skid Coolant Piping).
Based on accessibility, suppressant tanks for these areas may have to be located elsewhere.

The MRC Skids have a lot of hidden control wiring / harness cables running through sub panel structures
/ compartments. All holes to be drilled into the Skid Structures for mounting detectors and discharge
nozzles must be made through the access panels provided in the top of the cabinets specifically for fire
suppression installation.

All holes to be drilled into Dragline Structures for mounting detectors and discharge nozzles must first be
approved by Caterpillar Global Mining Personnel in writing.

Any modifications to engineered structures (drilling / cutting of holes, welding components to structure
elements, etc.), must first be approved by Caterpillar Global Mining Personnel in writing.

All welding must be performed according to and meet the requirements of Bucyrus/Caterpillar globall
Mining welding standards.
