Generate NC code to machine the given component using CNC Mill and
verify the simulation and machine the same in the milling machine for
any one profile mentioned below. You have to simulate the program in
the lab using Mill software and machine the same using CNC milling
machine and submit the snapshot of both simulation and machined
profile in the report. After that, all have to submit the machined job to
me for further assessment

Q2.
Assume you are a consultant who is paying an initial visit to a
manufacturing company to discuss a possible automation
implementation. Draw up a checklist of the topics that you will discuss
and the questions you will pose during your visit

Topics and questions, I may ask to the company employees:

 What are the type of products that are manufactured there?
 Is there scope for improvement of the quality of products manufactured?
 What are the number of products manufactured in a day?
 Does the company have many customers ordering products at the same
time?
 Does their manufacturing line manufacture the same product for a specific
set of time or is the line capable of manufacturing different products during a
specific set of time?
 What is the life cycle of the product manufactured?
 What are the damages that occur due to human error?
 Does the manufacturing process follow a specific sequence or is the
manufacturing process specially designed to improve efficiency?
 What is the number of products manufactured per batch?
 What is the amount of money that the company is willing to initially invest
for automation?
 Find ways to simplify the process and reduce unnecessary steps and moves.
 Find how stable the environment is to ensure that products manufactured
are appropriate ones
 Find out how precise the manufacturing process deployed by the company is
 Find out if the company is capable of hiring skilled employees to operate and
maintain the automatic machines if in case automation is implemented.
 Is the environment in the factory well suited, ie: can the automatic machines
be well maintained in the existing factory?
Q3.

Compare and contrast the conventional product cycle with automated

product cycle

PRODUCT CYCLE:
The product life cycle goes through multiple phases, involves many professional
disciplines, and requires many skills, tools and processes. product begins with an
idea, and within the confines of modern business, it isn't likely to go further until it
undergoes research and development and is found to be feasible and potentially
profitable. At that point, the product is produced, marketed, and rolled out.

The product life cycle is broken into four stages: introduction, growth, maturity, and
decline. This concept is used by management and by marketing professionals as a
factor in deciding when it is appropriate to increase advertising, reduce prices,
expand to new markets, or redesign packaging.
AUTOMATED PRODUCT CYCLE:
It is the technology concerned with the use of computers to perform design
and manufacturing functions. It increases the productivity of the design. It
improves quality of design.
