Advantages of Optical Shadow Effect Mode

What is Optical Shadow Effect Mode?

Optical Shadow Effect Mode can be used to detect subtle irregularities that could not be
found easily.

Optical Shadow Effect Mode Principle

Multi-directional lighting variation method Observation target Observation image in Optical

Shadow Effect Mode
Light shines on the observation target from opposite angles, subsequent the brightness
that returns to the CMOS is analysed.
The uneven surface can be emphasised by calculating the brightness across millions of
points in multiple directions and displaying the brightness as a greyscale image.

Application Examples

Embossed surfaces
Even white, uneven surfaces that have been processed and were difficult to observe can be visualised.
Therefore, operators can clearly observe the processing status.

Previous Models Optical Shadow Effect Mode

Plating bubbling
Surfaces whose uneven status could not be observed clearly can now be visualised.

Application Examples

Capacitor surfaces
Subtle scratches on the surface can be visualised with this mode.

Cut metal surfaces

Even subtle curves that were difficult to observe optically can be visualised with the colour display. Hence, the
processing status can be evaluated.

Metal crystals (1500×)

What is colour composition?

Overlapping the Optical Shadow Effect Mode image and the original colour image makes
it possible to analyse the local unevenness in detail.

Laser engraving (1000×)

What is a colour map of an uneven surface?

The colour display can be used to show whether parts are depressions or protrusions
compared to the surrounding area.
This function makes it easy to judge whether it is a foreign particle or a scratch.
