WHAT IS REPORTED SPEECH?

Reported speech is the way in

which you can tell, explain,
write or say something in your
own words, changing the verb
tense to the past.
It differs from direct speech in this
way, since direct speech involves
you saying or writing everything
verbatim and exactly as it
happened.
RULES FOR USING REPORTED SPEECH

RULE 1: Verb tenses change.

RULE 2: The tenses of modal verbs, also

known as modal verbs in English, also
change.

RULE 3: Adverbs of time also change.
