 Good day, magandang araw, at maayong adlaw diha to everyone! Today we will discuss about
our design concept, E-studyante: A Filipino Online Learning Application.

SO, WHAT IS THE BIG IDEA BEHIND OUR DESIGN CONCEPT?

 Proper education system is one of the things that most rural areas in the Philippines lack. A large
portion of students who live in these areas do not have access to quality reading materials.
There is also a language barrier that keeps the students from learning, since students from rural
areas do not speak nor write in English or Filipino fluently.
 We chose Cebuano as the Filipino dialect for our mobile application aside from Tagalog and
English because according to Britannica, Cebuano speakers constitute about one-fifth of the
population of the Philippines and are the second largest ethnolinguistic group in the country.
 With that said, we plan to make a mobile application, E-studyante, that is made to allow the
students to learn Filipino dialects such as Tagalog and Cebuano, along with English to break
language barriers in their process of learning by accessing our online library with unique
features, such as a text-to-voice feature and answer quizzes to improve their vocabulary in the
languages our app provides.

WHAT STAKEHOLDER WANTS THIS?

 The beneficiaries or stakeholders of the mobile application are students from rural areas,
specifically, those who have no access to proper and formal education and whom can only
speak, and understand Cebuano.
 Additionally, the users would be able to learn English and Tagalog while learning and studying
their reading materials if they want to study these languages. They will have quick access to the
mobile application since internet connection is not required all throughout the usage but is only
required when reading materials will be downloaded and saved in their libraries.

WHAT UNMET NEEDS DOES IT SERVE?

 A large portion of students who live in rural areas do not have access to quality reading
materials, because there is also a language barrier that keeps the students from learning since
students from rural areas do not speak nor write in English or Filipino fluently.
 The mobile application breaks the language barrier since the learners will be able to learn thru
their primary language, which is Cebuano.
 Hence, the scarcity of reading materials will also be solved by us providing a new learning
medium for them to maximize their opportunities.

HOW WILL THE STAKEHOLDER BENEFIT?

 The mobile application is made to be a new learning ground for those in rural areas since they
have limited opportunities in accessing reading materials that are translated into their dialect of
choice.
 Hence, the students can benefit from our mobile application by having access to reading
materials translated to the local language that is ready for them online to be downloaded and
utilize the unique features we have in our application such as the text-to-voice and answer
quizzes to test their knowledge about the languages present in the app.

HOW WILL WE DELIVER?

 Our approach is to provide a mobile learning app that will serve as a digital library to students.
 E-studyante can be their companion for learning as it offers hundreds of learning materials that
students can be accessed online or offline. Since it is a free mobile application, the learners no
longer need to invest on other reading materials since the mobile application will be providing
quality reading materials necessary for learning on the student’s grade level.
 We will take advantage of different social media platforms to reach more audiences nationwide.
Advertisement posters will also be put up in public areas especially near the schools.

WHAT ASSET OR CAPABILITY DOES THIS REQUIRE?

 E-studyante requires to provide accurate translations from one dialect to another. With our app,
students can also take quizzes to test their knowledge on English and Tagalog. We will make use
of Google API programs to give an accurate translation of words from one language to another,
and hire a dialect translator for the book materials.
 (E-studyante could be accessed easily online and offline.) The mobile application can be
downloaded from the Google App Store which can be accessed by everyone, even for worldwide
audience. To maximize the app offline, users can download books and quiz forms from the
digital library.

WHAT PARTNERS DO WE NEED?

 We are looking to partner with different tech companies like Google or Microsoft in order to
help provide more services that the students can use while using the application.
 We will also need to collaborate with different publishing houses like Rex Bookstore or Vibal
Publishing to have e-pub copies of textbooks that will be used as the main source of literary
materials. Partnering up with different non-profit organizations that provides education for the
children and especially the urban poor will also be an advantage for our project, such as UNICEF
and Bukas Palad.

IS THERE ANY OTHER PROVIDER THAT DOES OR COULD SERVE THE SAME CUSTOMER?

 There are countless translators and language learning applications present in mobile devices but
there is no current language learning and educational application like ours.
 E-studyante is a unique mobile learning app catering to the people who speak dialects, mostly in
Cebuano. Therefore, no current provider serving the same customer with the same
specifications and features has been released or existing as of now.
 By the time our idea has been executed, the number of qualitative and quantitative factors will
be taken into account by our future competitors and enter the prediction process of our plans
and further actions.

WHAT OTHER PARTNERS ARE ESSENTIAL TO THE CONCEPT’S SUCCESS?

 In order to ensure the concept’s success, we are looking to partner with big tech companies like
Google and Microsoft in order to guarantee the quality of our learning materials and aid to
provide more services that the students can access while using the application.
 We will also need to collaborate with publishing houses like Rex Bookstore or Vibal Publishing in
order to have copies of eBooks that will be disseminated and used by the students as the main
source of educational materials. In addition to that, partnering up with different non-profit
organizations that provides education for the children especially the urban poor will also be an
advantage in establishing success for our project.
