Crew Manager in Crew Management

The Crew Manager is hired to act as the senior


manager of all crew, handling all aspects of Crew
Management and many HR tasks. The position
provides broad experience within the maritime
industry and the potential to progress further in your
career.
The Crew Manager ensures that the crew deliver the
best possible service, coordinating any training or
promotions. All aspects of Crew Management become
your responsibility, including the handling of personnel related budgets and travel budgets. The Crew
Manager must assess the suitability of the staff employed, ensuring they are within the legal guidelines of the
vessel for rank, qualifications and medical certificates.
What does a Crew Manager job description include?

 Requirements to key skills, qualification: Crew Management company should have at least one crew manager
qualified as a ship officer and with at least one year experience at sea or employee without ship officer
qualification , but with at least 5 years experience of replacement service administration (according to MK

 The Crew Manager requires knowledge of vessel management, HR and the Maritime industry as a whole to
successfully work in Crew Management at a senior level.
 The Crew Manager must be an efficient motivator and coach, able to encourage any trainees and effectively
manage all crew.
 Since Crew Management requires the organization of schedules and long-term targets, the Crew Manager
must be well organized and focused on achieving results.
 The Crew Manager must also be able to work under pressure and in time constraints, remaining composed
and calm.
 You must be able to communicate competently, understanding the needs of others and answering and queries
efficiently.
 You must be proficient in Microsoft Office and any other software relevant to Crew Management.
 Approve sign off / sign on prospect
 To check crew competence and approve candidates with management company representatives
 To control planned crew documentation,certification and medical certification dates and document validity
for contract period
 Organize candidate internal approval/training process
 Maintain crew data base update for crew documentation
 Schedule crew interview with owner company
 Rotation plan/schedule control
 Crew expensive approval
