1 Introduction
Some critical contents below would be presented in ACS580MV 2018-A newsletter.

1.1 New PC tools for ACS580MV commissiong

With 2018-A software release, ABB FSEs will be supposed to do commissioning with new PC
tools, embedded verison of DriveStartup that integrated into Drive composer pro. One could get
the new PC tools through downloading Drive composer pro. The latest released is Drive composer
pro 2.2 now.

1.2 New PC tools background and feature

The standalone version of DriveStartup (last released version 5.2.5.5 in Q2 2016) has not been
actively maintained as Finland development teams have been focusing on Drive composer and
Unicos platform development. Drive composer do include DriveStartup v6.x and functionality for
Unicos platform drives, like ACS580MV.

1.3 License for the New PC tools

For opening the embedded version of DriveStartup, one should register Drive composer pro by a
special license.

2 How to get embedded DriveStartup license

All ABB ACS580MV certified engineers must have installed Drive composer pro as part of PC tools
to do commissioning before. They could ask the special license for embedded version of
DriveStartup from Global Field Service Manager Roger Fischer.*

*During transition period, for China channel partners, additional policy must be taken: They will be
supposed to get DriveStartup license each partner based. Each authorized partner will get the
license from mv.drives.supportline@cn.abb.com in the event that they have purchased Drive
composer pro primarily.
