Koalas
Koalas are found in the eucalyptus forests of eastern Australia. These cute and
cuddly creatures are covered in grey fur and have strong, short and stubby legs,
which are perfect for them to live on trees. They have big fluffy ears, small eyes and
a rounded leathery nose.
The baby koalas are called joeys which grow
and develop in their mummy’s pouch for six months.
The joeys will then cling onto their mothers’ back
until they reach a year old.
Koalas main diet is eucalyptus leaves and they can consume up to one kilogramme
in a day. When they are not feeding, they while away their time by snoozing on the
branches.
Koalas can live up to fifteen years.
