Sample Session Guide

LAC Session 1
Title: Getting Organized/Orientation
Duration: 2 hours

Objective: Establish general rules for the conduct of LAC Sessions

Materials: Manila paper, pentel pen, strips of colour papers, scotch tape)

A. Getting Started (5 minutes)

1. Welcome everyone to the session. Have members introduce themselves if necessary.


Introduce the school LAC plan, topics and objectives)

B. Sharing & Discussion in small group (10 min)

1. Ask members to form pairs or triads. Ask them to answer the following questions.
What outcomes do you expect from our LAC Sessions?
What do you think are the key characteristics of a strong and effective LAC Session?
What forms of support will you need to effectively participate in the LAC sessions?

2. Ask pairs or triads to consolidate their answers.

C. Plenary/Discussion (40 min)

1. Have the pairs/triads to present their consolidated answer.

2. Process the answer of the pairs/triads. Note similarities/differences in their answers.

3. Pose the following questions for discussion


What was the value added by discussing the questions with others?
What might be the value of regularly working with a group of teachers to improve
instructional practices?

4. Synthesize the key points brought out during the discussion.

5. Discuss and agree on the following about the conduct of LAC session
Time & Venue
Participation (attendance policy)
Groupings (permanent or flexible)
Sharing (how sharers will be chosen)
Listening (one voice)
Feedback (during sharing sessions, on assignments, etc)
Discussion how to (keep communication lines open, how can we ensure openness)
Submission of assignments and other forms
Materials and resources (what to bring by members, in charge of preparing snacks, if any, in
charge of materials, etc)

6. Have the group work together to create a poster where the agreements are listed. This can be
posted in the LAC session venue.

D. Looking forward to the next session (5 min)


Introduce the topic for the next LAC session. Give assignment related to the topic, what data they
will bring, etc

E. Confirm the date and venue of the next LAC session.

F. Completion of Reports
