vi
SJ MOTOR WORKSHOP is a company that deals with motor vehicles, especially
motorcycles.

Therefore, employees who work in the company also have knowledge about
motorcycles, such as replacement of Spear Parts, Over Houle and Tune Up.

Therefore, employees must have a good educational background and have

knowledge and expertise about the ins and outs of motorcycle engines.

2.4 WORK DISCIPLINE AND WORK SAFETY

2.4.1 WORK DISCIPLINE

Work is a very important human need. Our life depends on work.

This is because it is an economic resource for necessities.

Work can also elevate the status and prestige of an individual in society.

In addition, work also puts a person's value and self-esteem.

Religion strongly encourages every adherent to work and not beg. It is a demand that
needs to be carried out honestly and trustworthy. With this work, we can provide a
living for ourselves and our families in addition to building the nation's and state's
economy.

Usually, most of those who are successful are people who are disciplined in their
work. Having discipline allows a person to become a creative and quality worker.

To become such a worker requires a lot of skill and experience. It is only obtained by
the presence of DISCIPLINE.

Discipline at the following SJ MOTOR WORKSHOP:

a) Every morning employees come in at 08.00 WIB

b) Break time is at 12.00 WIB and re-enter at 13.00 WIB.
c) Employees are allowed to leave the workshop at 17.00 WIB on Monday to
Saturday, and on Sunday the workshop is closed.
d) Every employee wears casual but polite clothes.

2.4.2. WORK SAFETY

vii
Work safety is an effort made to reduce the occurrence of accidents, damage and all
forms of loss to humans, as well as those related to equipment, work objects,
workshops where work, and the work environment, directly and indirectly.

Occupational safety is the responsibility of all people, both directly involved in the
work and also the producer and consumer technology users in general.

In fact, attitude and work habits are the main keys to a successful technician.

In general, the safety objectives for motorcycle technology professionals can be

explained as follows:

1. Before starting work, each student should understand the rules and regulations of
the workshop

2. Protecting workers for physical and mental safety in carrying out work

3. Ensuring the safety of everyone in the workplace

4. The object of work is handed over to the student from the instructor

2.4.3. TYPES OF BUSINESS FIELDS

The types of business fields of TUNAS NEW MOTOR WORKSHOP are services,
such as installation of spare parts, tune ups, over hauls and others that are still related
to motorcycles.

3.3 Activity steps

a. TUNE UP
is an activity to restore engine performance to its original state.
In this description, I will describe how to tune up the Satria F motorcycle. In this
description, I limit my activities to only discussing how to service the Satria F
motorcycle from start to finish.
The steps for servicing Satria F motorbikes are as follows:

a. Check brakes and indicator lights

To check the brakes, check the front and

rear brakes.
check the front brake press the front brake
handle, whether the front brake braking is
still strong or weak.
For the rear brake, step on the foot of the
rear brake pedal whether the rear brake is
still in good condition or not.

b. Shock Absorber Inspection

x
Checking the suspension

️PCheck the rear and front suspension by rocking the bike forward, backward, up,
and down. Check for possible bends and oil leaks in the shock absorbers.

c. Carburetor Cleaning
Open the carburetor with a screwdriver (+), then remove the components in the
carburetor, including:
️Jet pilot
️Jet playing
️Needle jet
️Float (float)
️float valve
️Air screw pilot
️float bowl
️Pin buoy
Then clean each component with gasoline
and air compressor, then put it back as
before.

d. Valve Adjustment

Open the valve cover, then adjust the valve using the adjuster (retainer)

xi
and ring wrench 8-10

 The first step you must first

remove the cylinder head cover
by removing the 4 bolts.
 Next, position the piston in the
top dead center (TDC) position
and in the compression state
which is marked with both
valves in a free condition. and
also make sure the magnetic
block hole is right on the letter T
mark.

  After you
set the piston
to TDC, now
you prepare a
tool called a
feeler gauge
and measure
the valve gap
by inserting it
under the
camshaft.
 Well, the
standard valve
gap for the Suzuki Satria Fu 150 is 0.1 to 0.2 mm for the In valve size. The
Ex valve is 0.2 to 0.3 mm in size (on a cold engine).
 If you find a gap that doesn't fit, you can remove the shim housing and noken
as. Pay attention to the number in the shim and replace it with the appropriate
one.
 We take as an example, the gap is 0.05 while the standard size is 0.1 and the
shim used is 1.80, so that the gap is 0.1 mm, the shim is replaced with a size
of 1.75.
 e. Steering System Check

️Steering check
Pcheck the steering / steering head firmly
grasp the bottom of the fork,
and shake it forward and backward, then
adjust the steering wheel by:

- Loosen the top nut

- Adjust the lower nut tightness

xii
- Ktighten to specifications

f. Chain Setup

xiii
Loosen the rear axle nut with a 14-17 ring wrench, then adjust the chain tension with
a 10-12 wrench. If you have set the chain tensionre-tighten the rear axle nut.

1. Before adjusting the chain, position

your motorcycle in the center standard
(jack) position. This is so that the rear
wheels can rotate freely. Find the
position of the chain adjustment by
turning it then looking for the highest
point of the chain. Because the worn
chain is in very different conditions, at
one point it is very loose while at
another point it is very tight.

2. After that loosen the rear wheel bolt

and pull the wheel a few millimeters
slowly and tighten the bolt again, to
check the chain tension. Measure the chain gap by pressing down on the
bottom with your finger or a screwdriver. The normal drive chain clearance
ranges from 20-33mm (or can be seen on the sticker on the wheel chain
cover). Chains that are too tight will wear out quickly, on the other hand, if
they are loose, they will cause excessive jerks and vibrations.
3. Do not forget to turn off the chain adjustment mark between the left and right
must be in the same position of the mark. Likewise, make sure that the front
and rear sprockets are aligned. Because if it is not the same this can damage
the chain and even the sprocket.
4. If everything has been done, make sure when tightening the rear wheel bolts,
the wheel does not move at all, because if you move just a little it will have a
big impact on the chain's tightness.

xiv
5. It is recommended to check the chain tension at least once every two weeks
so that the safety and comfort of driving is more guaranteed, especially if the
motorbike is often used for traveling. If you're not sure you can do the steps
above, it's a good idea to take your bike to a repair shop or ask someone more
skilled for help.

xv
g. Spark Plug Cleaning

Open the spark plug with a shock wrench 16, then clean it with a wire brush and
sandpaper, if it's plugged back in.

h. Carburetor Filter Cleaning

Open the filter, remove the filter bolt with a screwdriver (+), then spray it with
compressor water so that the filter is clean again, after cleaning, plug it back in.

xvi
i. Gas Handle Adjustment

Adjust the gas handle nut with a 10-12 wrench, then adjust the gas handle to
specifications.

j. Oil Change

Unscrew the oil bolt with a 14-17 key, then remove the oil from the engine after it's
all gone. Close the bolt again and then open it and pour the new oil into the engine
through the oil cap in the clutch case

k. Battery Check

Includes the following:

xvii
️Check the battery voltage with a standard 12V voltmeter
️Checking the battery terminals for dirt attached to the positive and negative
terminals
️Examination of battery electrodes (PbSoO4) using a hydrometer

l. Checking Carburetor Settings

Adjust the idle screw and air screw on the carburetor.
Air screw settings for each type of carburetor:
️BS (Vacuum) : 2Round
️Conventional TV : 1¾Round

CLOSING

4.1. Conclusion

From the results of the PRAKERIN implementation which was carried out at the SJ
MOTOR WORKSHOP for 3 months and I concluded that by carrying out this
PRAKERIN I got a new experience, which I did not get at school.

During my internship, I gained experience in working in the field, as well as

experience to adjust to the world of work, besides that it added to my insight into the
real automotive world.

4.2 Suggestions

4.2.1. Suggestions For Companies

With the end of the internship and based on the description above, I humbly
venture to put forward positive suggestions that may be useful and beneficial.

The suggestions are:

1. During our internship at the SJ MOTOR WORKSHOP, I felt that the

workshop was very kind and friendly in guiding me. Therefore, I hope that the
friendliness and kindness of the SJ MOTOR BENGKEL employees will not
only be for me personally, but also for the students of our school. Don't forget I
also want to thank the employees who have helped us in carrying out the
PRACTICE
2. Employees must uphold a sense of solidarity and togetherness properly
3. Need to increase discipline at work
4. Maintaining a close and harmonious sense of family

xix
5. The company is willing to provide useful lessons for students or students who
carry out PRACTICE at SJ MOTOR WORKSHOP
6. Provide another PRACTICE opportunity to students for the next period
7. Guiding us patiently and able to accept our shortcomings

4.2.2. Advice For Schools.

To further improve the quality of graduates of the 7 Muaro Jambi State

Vocational High School, we hope that the teaching and learning process will be
further improved as well as improve the quality and skills and add to the existing
facilities. Because now there is still a lack of equipment and teaching aids, I
hope we all don't lose heart and continue to take the initiative to be able to
continue learning
