TASK 1

Air Pollution Effects

People’s Health Effects:

According to WHO guidelines. No matter how wealthy a region you reside in, air
pollution is difficult to avoid. It can be found everywhere around us. Airborne pollutants can get
past our bodies' defences, infiltrating deep into our respiratory and circulatory systems and
causing damage to our lungs, heart, and brain. Air pollution has major health consequences: it is
responsible for one-third of all fatalities from stroke, lung cancer, and heart disease. This has a
similar effect to smoking cigarettes and is far stronger than the effects of eating too much salt,
for example.

Children are negatively affected by air pollution. Asthma affects up to 14% of children
aged 5 to 18 years worldwide, and it is linked to variables such as air pollution. Every year, 543
000 children* under the age of five die from respiratory diseases caused by pollution in the air.
Childhood malignancies have also been linked to air pollution. Pregnant women are exposed to
pollutants, which can have an impact on embryonic brain development. Both children and adults
have been related to cognitive impairment as a result of air pollution

Environmental Effects:
Climate change and air pollution are inextricably intertwined; the main cause of climate change
is fossil fuel burning, which is also a major source of air pollution, and attempts to limit one can
help the other. The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change cautioned earlier this month
that coal-fired electricity must be phased out by 2050 if global warming is to be kept below
1.5°C. If we do not act now, we may face a serious climate crisis in the next 20 years.

Water Pollution Effects

People’s Health Effects

Bacteria that cause diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, typhoid, hepatitis A, and polio can be
found in contaminated water. According to the United Nations, about 297,000 children under the
age of five die each year as a result of diseases caused by poor sanitation, hygiene, or
contaminated drinking water.

Environmental Effect
Water pollution has a significant negative impact on biodiversity and aquatic habitats.
Toxic chemicals can alter the colour of water and raise mineral levels, a process known as
eutrophication, which has a negative influence on aquatic life. Thermal pollution, defined as a
rise in water temperature, contributes to global warming and poses a major threat to aquatic life.
TASK 2
Applying Solid Waste Management as Solution:

 Recycle materials such as plastic to forge chairs, pots and etc.

 Use biodegradable garbage to form compost bins and compost pits for plants.
 Medical waste materials and biohazard materials should be inspected by professionals
and use for renewable source of energy
 Always Segregate biodegradable and non-biodegradable materials
 Laboratories and other facilities that works with chemicals should have proper disposal of
their wastes but not dumping directly to the bodies of water.
TASK 3
Tasks in our household that help reduce greenhouse emissions

 Most of the time, instead of using a vehicle. We tend to walk or use bicycle, since it is not
emitting gas, it helps the environment a lot, also walking and biking is a form of exercise
so it has double benefits.
 In our household, as much as possible we minimize using lights
 We use solar dependent charging lights. It saves electricity
 We clean our refrigerator, when its defrosting time
 Most of the items in our house can be reused for later purposes.
