Basic Function of Management


Management
 management is the process of working with people and resources to accomplish organizational goals
and objectives effectively and efficiently.

Functions of Management
1. Planning
It involves determining objective to be achieved and how they are going to achieve them.
Planning is the conscious, purposeful, setting the strategies, priorities, objectives, goals and
tactics to be pursued by the organization.

2. Organizing
It is the process of bringing together physical, financial in human resources and developing
productive relationship amongst them for achievement of organizational goals.

3. Staffing
This means recruiting, selecting, training, developing and retaining the people, skills and
talents necessary to meet current and future organizational needs.

4. Directing
It means more than simply providing direction and supervising; it also includes leading
coaching, motivating and inspiring employees to perform at their very best.

5. Controlling
Checking the work accomplished against plans or standards and making correction when new
development or unforeseen event necessitates

Stages in Strategic Management

1. Strategy formulation 
is the process of establishing the organization’s mission, objectives, and choosing among
alternative strategies. Sometimes strategy formulation is called ‘strategic planning’.
2. Strategy implementation 
It necessitates an organization to establish annual objectives, prepare policies, motivate
employees, and allocate resources so that prepared strategies can be put into practice.
3. Strategy evaluation 
It is the final phase in strategic management. managers ought they know at what time
appropriate strategies are not working as they should. Strategy evaluation is the core process
for acquiring this information.
