Control
hardware EPS System / Generalities
Not in production anymore, but still interesting for the „service“ part of
our course, since there are more than 200 drives in operation with this type

of control supply.

Control
hardware EPS System / Differences
Differences:
Documentation:
In the old schematic philosophy / layout, the component
desi gnation does not contain the page number; it
follows the component type and order (A1..A8 for electronic
boards, G1, G2 for power supplies, etc.).
The electric schematic pages are numbered in order from
100 to, e.g., 168.
Differences:
Hardware:
A single power supply board, EPS, supplying control
boards, current transducers, GUSP modules (two EPS
for the water cooled drives)
Two 12 VDC Sonnenschein batteries A412/5.5 in series
(four for Water Cooled)
Power supply supervision: ribbon cable(s) from EPS
connector X5 (X51) to INT connector X201.
(the new system: connector with a jumper 2 – 7 in INT -
X201)
Different tripping loop configuration, resulting in X300
wiring differences.
The control transformer: much bigger.

hardware EPS System / SW Differences
Differences:
Software:
The new power supply concept was developed starting with
the SW version MSOH4100.
There are SW differences between the EPS and Phoenix
power supply concepts, regarding mainly the I/O’s and
protections, but the proper SW version is automatically
installed by setting the digit 18 in the drive type code (when
downloading), or by the mean of parameter 112.08
