LESSON PROPER
The teacher will present the topic and the learning
objective.
A. ACTIVITY
EXPERIMENT (Polarity of Molecules)
MATERIALS:
Water
Vinegar
Vegetable Oil
Gasoline
Food coloring
Test tubes or graduated cylinder
Stirring rod
PROCEDURE:
1. Mix the following samples well using a
stirring rod and observe their reactions.
2. Remember to use another stirring rod for each
mixture.
a. Water + vinegar
b. Water + oil
c. Water + gasoline
d. Oil + vinegar
e. Oil + gasoline
B. ANALYSIS
What did you observe to each mixture after doing the
experiment?
What happen to water when mixed with other substances?
How did you find the activity?
C. ABSTRACTION
Discuss polar and non- polar molecule.
Let the students distinguish the difference between polar
and non-polar molecule.
Discuss the properties of elements in the periodic table.
Let the students examine the periodic table.
Discuss what is electronegativity, polar covalent bond
and non-polar covalent bond.
Let the students identify the electronegativity of an
atom or elements using the periodic table
D. APPLICATION
Ask the students the following question:
What have you learned from the discussion?
Differentiate polar and non-polar molecules
Give the summary of our topic.
E. EVALUATION
Direction: Determine if the following substances if polar
or non- polar
1. H-Cl
2. H-F
3. H-I
4. H-H
5. C-C
F. ASSIGNMENT
1. Give the properties of polar and non-polar molecules?
