Modifications to the previous
versions are highlighted by two Concerns: Workshop – Reception – Stores

I – SUBJECT: REPLACEMENT OF THE BOOST PRESSURE AND

TEMPERATURE SENSOR
The purpose of this Technical Note is to explain:
– the developments of the boost sensor on all DXi engines.
– the precautions to be taken when replacing engines or sensors only.
– the customer effects if an incorrect sensor is fitted.

DXi 11, 12 and 13 engines: If replacing the engine with a new or standard exchange engine, check
that the sensor fitted to the new engine is the same as that fitted to the old engine (the sensor fitted
to the old engine may be recovered and re-used).

IV – THE CUSTOMER EFFECTS IF AN INCORRECT SENSOR IS FITTED

The only difference between the sensors is their electrical operation.

The 7420524936 and 4216645 sensors are interchangeable.

The 7421097978 sensor is not compatible with the other two sensors.

If an incorrect sensor is fitted, one or more boost pressure fault codes may appear:
– PID 102 FMI 0.
– PSID 98 FMI 1.
– SID 32 FMI 7.

In all instances, the easiest way of carrying out diagnostics is to use Tech Tool to read the boost
pressure with the engine stopped (test no. 2846-08-03-02 - Sensor values, checking).

If an incorrect sensor is fitted, the value will be different to atmospheric pressure (± 130 mbar or 13 kPa).
The value with the engine stopped should be 0.
