DISASTER READINESS AND RISK REDUCTION
LESSON 12 – RESPONSE PROCEDURE DURING A FIRE INCIDENT
WHAT’S IN
ELEMENTS OF FIRE STAGES OF FIRE MAN-MADE CAUSES OF
FIRE
Oxygen Incipient Cooking Equipment
Heat Growth Fault Wirings
Fuel Fully Developed Candle
Decay Smoking in bedroom
Flammable liquids

WHAT’S NEW
In “A Burnt Ship,” Donne displays this
modernist-like thinking as he rejects
logic and instead embraces an ironic
and nonsensical viewpoint of men
involved in a maritime battle. When a
nearby enemy ship attacks, the men
must choose between dying by burning
alive or drowning.

WHAT’S MORE
1. Close the door to the room where the fire is located. This will confine the fire to a smaller area.
2. If the fire is small and you have been trained to use the fire extinguisher, you may attempt to
put the fire out.
3. Find and inspect fire exists and stairways carefully.
4. Call for help as early as possible.
5. Conduct fire drills regularly and apply it in case of fire.

WHAT I CAN DO
Disasters are unforeseen occurrence of an event that causes harm to society. There are
many disasters that cause damage to the environment and the people living in it. Some of them
are earthquakes, cyclones, floods, Tsunami, landslides, volcanic eruption, and many more. But the
things is, are you prepared? Why disaster preparedness is important?
Disasters disrupt hundreds of thousands of lives every year. Each disaster has lasting
effects, both to people and property. You should know how to respond to severe disaster that
could occur in your area. You should be prepared!
Being prepared can reduce fear, anxiety, and losses that accompany disasters.
Communities, families, and individuals should know what to do in the event of a fire and where to
seek shelter during a powerful storm. They should be ready to evacuate their homes and take
refuge in public shelters and know how to care for their basic medical needs.
You should also be ready to be self-sufficient in case of disaster. This may mean providing
for your own shelter, first aid, food, water, and sanitation is very important!
