1. I'm thinking about how geological hazards can cause significant damage to people.
2. I’m wondering if we can avoid losing a life during environmental crisis.
3. I’m noticing that climate change have worsen because of the increase use of fossil fuels
and deforestation.
4. It reminds me of what happened at Yeban Norte where properties of the citizens were
destroyed because of an unexpected landslide.
5. I’m feeling scared for the world because it keepos on changing, in a negative way.
Natural and man-made disasters’ records keep on increasing.
 WHAT I CAN DO
1. What do you think will happen if a sinkhole will occur in our home?
ANSWER: It may cause damage to your property, injury, or worse, loss of life.
2. What damage can it cause in our home?
ANSWER: The foundation of the house, walls, and floors will have cracks and become
uneven. Doors and windows will be hard to open because of the cracks. There’s also a
possibility that the house will completely collapse.
3. How do you think we can prevent this kind of scenario to happen?
ANSWER: Water conservation rules and drought restrictions can help prevent sinkholes
by keeping water tables high.
4. How can we lessen the damage it can bring?
ANSWER: It requires extensive costly repairs. Hire a building inspector to look at your
land and home. Replace old utility pipes.

ACTIVITY 2. WHAT IS HAPPENING?
GUIDE QUESTION:
How can you relate the observation of changes in the surroundings to the preparation for
a hydrometeorological disaster such as typhoon, storm surge, flash flood, etc.?

ANSWER: These all climatic changes are related with each other. They account for the majority
of natural hazards and occur in all regions of the world, though the frequency and severity of
certain hazards, as well as society's vulnerability to them, vary by region.

What should you do if you observe the signs of an impending disaster such as a
thunderstorm?

ANSWER: Postpone any trip or activity you planned, make a disaster supply kit for yourself and
family, and prepare for an evacuation plan in case your safety in your area are not guaranteed.

ACTIVITY 2. RECOGNIZING FIRE ELEMENTS
ANSWER THE QUESTION:
What is the relevance of recognizing the different elements of the fire
triangle in each situation?
ANSWER: The fire triangle, often known as the combustion triangle, is a basic model for
determining the elements required for most flames. The triangle depicts the three ingredients
that must be present for a fire to start: heat, fuel, and an oxidizing agent (usually oxygen).

MODULE 5: FIRE RESPONSE, EMERGENCY, & EVACUATION PLAN
ACTIVITY 1. DRAWING
TITLE: REDUCING FIRE DISASTERS
There are numerous things that could go wrong and cause lasting damage.
 DON’T LEAVE A CANDLE ON OVERNIGHT. Multiple incidences of careless candle-
burning have been documented by health care experts and fire department professionals,
resulting in large flames and significant damage to living and non-living goods in the area. If
the candle knocks over anything flammable, the fire may spread quickly and reach a
gigantic size before you realize there's a problem.
 OCTOPUS WIRING SHOULD BE AVOIDED. Why? You risk overloading the outlet or
circuit, if not causing wires or plugs to overheat and burn, because each outlet is designed
to supply a limited quantity of energy.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES
Planning for the unexpected begins with the whole family. Talk calmly with your family about
what to do in a serious emergency. You do not want to make children or older relatives
anxious. 

• FATHER will take charge and lead in the fire evacuation.

• Call and request attendance by the Fire Service.
• If safe to do, electrical mains and gas supplies should be switched off before
leaving the house.
• ALL FAMILY MEMBERS will each take every important document befor
evacuating.
• MOTHER will ensure that nobody re-enters the house until confirmed safe to do
so by the Fire Service
• BOTH PARENTAL GUARDIAN will liaise with Fire Service upon their arrival

WHAT I CAN DO
HOW DID THE DISASTER HAPPEN?

 JUNE 8, 2021. Around 11 p.m., the ground in Sito Barikir, Barangay Yeban Norte, Benito
Soliven, Isabela, began to shake violently.  It wreaked havoc on the environment. The
majority of their homes and other properties were destroyed, but there are no records of
deaths as a result of the disaster.

WHAT ACTIONS DID THE COMMUNITY TAKE?

 Donations were made by people from other barangays and organizations around
Isabela. The barangay officials provided them with a safe place to stay while their
home was being repaired.
