FACTORS THAT CAN
CAUSE NATURAL
PHENOMENON
TECTONIC SHIFTS
The heat from radioactive processes within the
planet's interior causes the plates to move,
sometimes toward and sometimes away from
each other. This movement is called plate
motion, or tectonic shift.
DEFORESTATION
Refers to the decrease in forest areas
across the world that are lost for other
uses such as agricultural croplands,
urbanization, or mining activities.
SOIL EROSION
A gradual process that occurs when
the impact of water or wind detaches
and removes soil particles, causing the
soil to deteriorate.
AIR PRESSURE
Low pressure is what causes active
weather. The air is lighter than the
surrounding air masses so it rises,
causing an unstable environment.
POLLUTION
The introduction of harmful materials
into the environment. These harmful
materials are called pollutants.
GLOBAR WARMING
The long-term heating of Earth's
surface. Due to human activities,
primarily fossil fuel burning, which
increases heat-trapping greenhouse
gas levels in Earth's atmosphere.
