LEARNING TASK 2
1. Is there something wrong with the friend’s response to your mother’s hospitality?
I think yes, because it is the initiative of the mother to cook and owe her some food.
It is complete free as a token and appreciation for visiting their house.

2. Is there something problematic about your friend asking for payment for her loving expense
Probably yes, because being a friend to lean on is listening and giving yourself
wholeheartedly. It is all about the friendship you cherish and not the money.

3. What makes these two reactions awkward for you?

Money is not a power. Being there on the darkest moments does not need anything
in return if you are a genuine friend.

4. By making a reference to the society where you belong, what is your initial response upon
reading the situations?
I will tell them that not everything is worth of money.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED
LEARNING TASK 5
1. What are the distinct features of digital society which make it significantly different from the
previous societies?
The distinct features of the digital society from the previous societies are:
 Man has to do less work, more work is done by computers.
 The lives of citizens is improved as they have more leisure time.
 The communication speed has increased in a digital society as compared to
previous societies.
 Learning opportunities have increased in a digital society.
 There’s more growth in a digital society as compared to previous societies.

2. In your own understanding, how does digital form?

The notion of digital society reflects the results of the modern society in adopting
and integrating information and communication technologies at home, work,
education and recreation. Digital innovations are reshaping our society, economy
and industries with a scale and speed like never before.

3. Do you think, what are the things digital society can offer compared to the previous type of
society?
We can be more prone in socializing and communicating with others. It boost the
productivity and enhance the flexibility of workers.

4. How post-industrial society and digital society connected to each other?

It is the information societies, sometimes known as postindustrial or digital
societies. Unlike industrial societies that are rooted in the production of material
goods, information societies are based on the production of information and
services.

 Access to the everyday updates
 Makes the long/far distance near to one another
 Was able to be involved in groups and communities that have the same opinions
and thoughts.
 Creates job opportunities.
NEGATIVE EFFECTS
 Being reliable to one source of information only
 Available information are not consistent and sometimes the sources are not
genuine.
 Started to lose the essence of personal interactions
 Misleading information
WHAT I CAN DO
LEARNING TASK 6
1.
A. One advantage is that technology is a tool used for communication. However, the
disadvantage of it is it can cause addiction.
B. One advantage is that communities before formed close-related ships such as tribes for
survival. Contrarily, one disadvantage that many social issues were still rampant.
C. The glaringly obvious thing regarding social differences between the 70s and 80s
compared to now is that people primarily socialized face to face in the 70s and 80s,
whereas now, the primary way people socialize is via the internet.
D. Friendship is a relationship that is between two or more people, whereas love is a
romantic relationship between only two people. Love is a feeling of personal attraction
towards another person wherein two people need not be in a relationship with each other.
... Friendship, however, does not include such deep feelings.

2. I don’t think it’s better to go back to the tribal and feudalistic forms of society because our
lives are easier right now because of technology. But on the other hand, there are some
negative things on it like we are more affected to the technology rather than on each other’s
connections.
3. I think an examined life can be compatible with these societies because still, there are
people who have empathy, kindness, humanity and respect for others and I am sure they
can live in these societies without a problem.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES
As individuals, we all have many societal influences in our lives that helps to shape us into
who we are today. Sometimes we have some influences that we don’t even realize are actual
influences in our everyday lives, and we don’t take into consideration that they do anything for us.
The three main societal influences that I think are prominent in my life are my family, the
importance of education, and my dreams. These three helped me blossomed into the person I am
today.

My first societal influence on my life is my family. My parents taught me many things

especially in respect and kindness. In education, I went through 13 years of schooling from
kindergarten to SHS. Education is such a substantial part of my life. If I didn’t go to school I
wouldn’t have learned the basics of education like learning how to read and write, or things more
into the complex subjects like chemistry and physics. Another reason I believe that education is so
crucial is because of the social aspect of it. Going to school helped me learn how to build
relationships with other people other than the family that I see everyday. Lastly, my dream is the
one that inspires me to work hard. I want to be a successful and independent woman in the future!
I believe that family life, the importance of education, and my dream are my biggest societal
influences in my life.
