4 Compatibility with the network P

4.1 Voltage, power and frequency P

4.2 Normal operating operating range Met the parameters of the P

The photovoltaic systems usually do not regulate Standard
the voltage, but only the current injected into the
grid. Therefore, the normal voltage range is
selected as a protection function, to respond to
abnormal grid conditions. The PV system shall
operate within the limits of voltage variation
defined in 5.2.1

4.3 Twinkle Met the parameters of the P

Operation of the PV system can not cause Standard
scintillation above the limits mentioned in the
relevant sections of IEC 61000-3-3 (for systems
with current less than 16A), IEC 61000-3-11 (for
systems with current higher than 16A and lower to
75A) and IEC / TS 61000-3-5 (for systems with
current greater than 75A).

4.4 Component injection protection c.c. on the network Met the parameters of the P
electrical Standard
The photovoltaic system must stop supplying
power the network in 1 s if component injection
c.c. more than 0.5% of the rated current of the
inverter. The photovoltaic system with
transformer with galvanic separation at 60Hz
does not need to have additional protections to
meet this requirement.

4.5 Frequency Nominal Frequency Range Met the parameters of the P

Photovoltaic system must operate in Standard
synchronism with the electricity grid and within
the limits of frequency variation defined in
5.2.2

ABNT NBR 16149:2013
Section Requirement - Test Requirement - Test Verdict

4.6 Harmonics and distortion of waveforms Met the parameters of the P

The total current harmonic distortion must be less Standard
than 5% relative to the fundamental current at the
rated power of the inverter. Each individual
harmonica shall be limited to the values given in
Table 1.

4.7 Power Factor and Reactive Power Injection / Met the parameters of the P
Demand Standard
Inverter shall be capable of operating at the
following power factor range when the mains
active power supply is 20% higher than the
rated power of the generator

4.7.1 Photovoltaic systems with rated power less Met the parameters of the P
than or equal to 3kW Standard
PF equal to 1 factory set, with working tolerance
in the range of 0.98 inductive to 0.98 capacitive.

ABNT NBR 16149:2013
Section Requirement - Test V Verdict

4.7.2 Photovoltaic systems with rated power greater 15kW N/A

than 3 kW and less than or equal to 6 kW:
FP equal to 1 factory set,
with tolerance of working in the range of 0.98
inductive to 0.98 capacitive. The inverter must
optionally be able to operate according to the
curve of Figure 1 and with adjustable FP from
0.95 inductive to 0.95 capacitive.

4.7.3 Photovoltaic systems with rated power 15KW P

greater than 6kW
The photovoltaic system can operate in two
modes:
PF equal to 1 set at factory, with working
tolerance from 0.98 inductive to 0.98 capacitive.
The inverter must optionally be able to operate
according to the curve of Figure 1 and with
adjustable FP of 0.90 inductive to 0.90
capacitive; or (ii) reactive power control (Var),
according to Figure 2.

5 Personal safety and protection of the PV system P

This Section provides information and
considerations for the safe and correct operation
of photovoltaic systems connected to the grid.

5.1 Loss of mains voltage Met the parameters of the P

In order to prevent islanding, a grid-connected Standard
photovoltaic system must supply grid power,
independently of connected loads or other
generators, at a specified time-limit.

The power supply may not be energized for

several reasons. For example, protection against
faults and disconnection due to maintenance.

5.2 Voltage and frequency variations P

5.2.1 Voltage variation Met the parameters of the P

When the mains voltage goes out of the Standard
operating range specified in Table 2, the PV
system must stop powering the mains.

ABNT NBR 16149:2013
Section Requirement - Test Result - Observation Verdict

5.2.2 Frequency variation Met the parameters of the P

When the grid frequency reaches values below Standard
57.5Hz, the PV system must cease to supply
power to the grid by up to 0.2 s. The system shall
only re-supply power to the grid when the
frequency returns to 59.9Hz, respecting the
reconnection time described in 5.4

When the grid frequency exceeds 60.5Hz and

remains below 62Hz, the PV system should
reduce the active power injected into the grid
according to the equation:

5.3 Protection against islanding Met the parameters of the P

The photovoltaic system must cease to supply Standard
power to the grid within 2 s after the loss of the grid.

NOTE The test procedures for

anti-islanding are objects of ABNT NBR IEC
62116
5.4 Reconnection Met the parameters of the P
After a "disconnection" due to an abnormal Standard
condition of the grid, the photovoltaic system can
not resume the power supply to the grid
(reconnection) for a period of 20 s to 300 s after
resumption of normal conditions of voltage and
frequency of the grid .

ABNT NBR 16149:2013
Section Requirement - Test Result - Observation Verdict

5.5 Aterramento P
The network interface equipment must be
grounded in accordance with IEC
60364-7-712.

5.6 Short circuit protection P

The photovoltaic system must have short-circuit
protections at the interface to the mains in
accordance with IEC 60364-7-712.

5.7 Insulation and sectioning P

A method of isolating and isolating the network
interface equipment shall be made available in
accordance with IEC 60364-7-712.

5.8 Automatic network reclosing Met the parameters of the P

The photovoltaic system must be able to withstand Standard
automatic phase reclosing in the worst possible
condition (as opposed to phase).

6 External control Met the parameters of the P

The photovoltaic system must be prepared to Standard
receive remote control signals.

6.1 Active Power Limitation 15kW P

A photovoltaic system with a nominal power
greater than 6 kW shall be capable of limiting
the active power injected into the network by
remote controls.
The active power limited by the external control
must be reached within 1 min after receiving the
signal, with tolerance of + - 2,5% of the nominal
power system, respecting the power limitations at
the entrance of the photovoltaic system.

ABNT NBR 16149:2013
Section Requirement - Test Result - Observation Verdict

6.2 Reactive Power Command 15kW N/A

The photovoltaic system with a rated power
greater than 6 kW shall be capable of
regulating the reactive power injected /
demanded by remote controls, within the limits
set forth in Section 4.7.
The reactive power required by the remote control
must be reached within 10 s after receipt of the
signal, with a tolerance of +/- 2.5% of the rated
power of the system.

6.3 Disconnection / reconnection of the network Met the parameters of the P

photovoltaic system Standard
The photovoltaic system must be able to
disconnect and / or reconnect from the mains by
means of remote controls.
The disconnection / reconnection must be
carried out within 1 min after receiving the
remote control.

7 Substandard back-up requirements due to 15kW N/A

faults in the network (fault ride through
FRT)
In order to avoid undue grid disconnection in
cases of voltage sag, to avoid undue
disconnection of the grid in cases of voltage sag,
the photovoltaic system with rated power greater
than or equal to 6 kW should continue to satisfy
the requirements represented graphically in
