Oyo was one of the first to introduce affordable accommodation services in India. They
developed websites and apps where individuals could easily list cozy accommodations, promote
their offerings and chat directly with potential customers.

Is this a human-centric approach? Which aspects are human centric?


Yes, this is a human centric approach. It solves problems of both the property lenders/
homeowners and travellers looking for an affordable accommodation. Previously, had to go
through centralized hotel chains to book an overnight stay. These overnight stay charges by
hotels were expensive and irrespective of the duration or utilization of services the travellers
had to pay full charges. This made hotel chains an expensive option for travellers. Also, through
such accommodation services, the travellers gained access to destinations they could have
never explored before. Such services provided a unique and more customized services.
On the other hand, the homeowners, with vacant home spaces were losing out on a potential
business opportunity as they could not reach out to customers/ travellers. Through this
innovation they gained access to travellers’ market which was like a dream come true for them.
Also, many homeowners were not even aware that this could be a potential business
opportunity for them. It helped many homeowners make money out of the empty unused home
spaces.
What type of Innovation ?
OYO has adopted disruptive innovation. They created a new market of travellers for
homeowners. They took hold of the hospitality market , meeting the same expectations as high
end hotel chains but in a simple and relatively cheap way. Due to their low cost and other
advantages, they move quickly up the market and eventually have now become more appealing
than their hotel chain competitors.
Initially OYO began as a low-end accommodation. They have replaced luxury hotel chains .
According to a study, customers use the OYO as a substitute for standard hotel services as they
are unique and flexible. Initially it provided a low cost solution to a low value user but now they
have started addressing the needs of high end customer that would choose to stay in a hotel.

Innovation – Technological innovation in Home Service
The urban company platform simplifies the process of finding professional servicemen for a
variety of jobs. It is basically providing a marketplace for freelance labour and home services,
connects cleaners, repair workers, beauticians, and other professionals. The website assists
offline service workers, who have previously relied on middlemen or word of mouth to get work,
in finding more jobs. Urban Company has always prioritised technology in order to improve the
client experience and alter the home services market.

Is this a human-centric approach? Which aspects are human centric?


Yes, this is a human centric approach. It solves the problem of blue collar workers and helps
them earn a livelihood.
First it is solving the problem of low cost service professionals. They are empowering these
service professionals by bringing services to their clients' homes in a way that has never been
done before. It is helping them connect to the customers in their vicinity and provide them
services . Before this there was no such platform and these service professionals, could not find
customers and had to rely on word of mouth for opportunities.
It also provides them insurance , financing, products and consumables support. It would
increase the number of micro entrepreneurs in the country.
On the other hand it is solving problems of people who do not have the time to travel to salons
due to their hectic schedules (metropolitan cities), due to illnesses or people who cannot travel.
It make sit easier for people to find local technicians and trust worthy service professionals easily
without any hassle

Radical innovation. Urban Company is bringing about radical innovation in the home service
industry, through technological innovation. They are further planning to strengthen their
technological innovation. They have brought about a radical change in the paradigms of the
home service industry. They have also planned to hire more than 100 engineer in the year 2022.
They are also targeting customers from middle class with an annual income of 6-8 lakhs.
They have aggregated 120 different services and have now majorly categorized them into 2
types : Beauty and Home Repairs& amp; Servicing.

About The Innovative Business Model - The new innovation allows small businesses and
individuals to build online storefronts using WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and other social
media platforms.
Meesho, which literally translates to "Meri Dukan" (my shop), provides potential entrepreneurs
with a functional internet store. Through its platform, the company provides distribution access
to 20,000 producers. In 2016, Meesho was one of three Indian startups accepted into the Y
Combinator programme. It was also a part of the Google Launchpad – Solve for India program's
initial cohort. It was the first Indian start-up to be funded by Facebook in June 2019.

Do they adopt any human-centric approaches? If so, what aspects of these innovations
are human-centric? Explain
They have company have most focus on growing the business of small business people and give
them chance to expand their business, even they have allowed house wife’s and homemakers to
start the business. They have considered all the problems faced by the stakeholders they are
targeting and designed the product accordingly, so overall they have kept human ease in mind.

What type of Innovation ?


This is the type of Radical innovation, as the business model which meesho has come up with is
substantial shift from usual business model adopted by Amazon, flipkart. This model itself brings
a new value to existing ecommerce audience which give them edge over other competitor in the
market, Though the adoption is currently less in the market, it will be adopted in coming next
few years.
