Carriageway information:

Lane details:
4 lane divided carriageway road, with outer lane of bituminous pavement and inner lane for high-speed movement rigid
pavement.

Width of section:
Rigid pavement: 3.5 meter
Flexible pavement: 3.75 meters.
Terrain:
Since Kolhapur is on the banks of western mountain ranges the plains are partially plain and partially rolling.

Features:

Unevenness index:
Est. Nearly to 2000 since road pavement is satisfactory.
No visibility (light reflection) problem since both the type of pavement are existing.

Cross slope:
For carriage way it is kept 2.5%, for shoulder 3% (Est.), straight type

Median:
Median of height 1.2meters and 2-meter width is existing.

Shoulder:
Shoulder inclusive of footpath of 2.5meter of average width is provided.

Kerb:
Raised barrier type of kerb are provided of height of 20cm from pavement top

Drainage:
Drainage facilities are on both side of carriage way
No driveways, cycle track, parking lanes, bus bay is existing on the selected stretch.
For the design speed in range of 65-80 Kmph

Longitudinal friction factor: 0.35-0.36

Stopping sight distance: 80 m for 65 Kmph, 120 m for 80 Kmph.
Maximum acceleration allowed: 0.92-0.72m/sec2 .

Overtaking sight section: 470 meters.

On horizontal curve Radius for cross slope of 2.5 % is 620-720 meters.
Since radius is > 300 meter, no extra widening required.
