2. Introduction
This document specifies the data communication interface services available on the CAN data link, as
implemented by the Electronic Diesel Control EDC7C1, Software P168v4.1.2
The data communication interface services follows the SAE J1939/71 Application Layer specification,
extended with IVECO proprietary messages.
The CAN data link is set according to SAE J1931/21 specification, which includes the use of 29 bits
identifiers (CAN 2.0B) and a bit rate of 250 kbit/s.
The Electronic Control Unit EDC7C incorporates the CAN bus terminating resistors inside the physical
layer interface.

4.1.6. Engine Configuration

The EDC supports the Mode 2 for the engine characteristic, according to SAE J1939/71 Surface Vehicle Recommended Practice – Parameter group E NGINE
CONFIGURATIon – Mode 2.
E NGINE CONFIGURATIon – Mode 2 provides a HIGH IDLE point where torque equals zero and the E NDSPEED GOVERNOR GAIN Kp.
The engine configuration is transmitted as a multi-packet message, consisting of a broadcast announce message and 4 sequential packets with the specified data.
