Clean and Prepare Rooms for the Incoming Guest

This module deals with the knowledge and skills required in preparing room for
Guests according to industry standard.

At the end of this module the trainees:

 Identify different cleaning materials, cleaning chemicals, cleaning


equipment and guestroom amenities use in cleaning and preparing rooms
 Clean and set up room boys trolley
 Proper usage and proper care of cleaning chemicals, equipment used for
cleaning

Cleaning Chemicals and its Uses

Cleaning agents - are substances used to remove dirt, including stains, bad smells
and clutter on the surfaces.

Purpose of cleaning agents includes health, beauty, removing offensive odor and
avoiding the spread of dirt and contaminants to oneself and others.

Kinds of Cleaning Chemicals

1. Glass Cleaner
 Are specialty household cleaning products used to clean and wash glasses.
 Usually contains ammonia and in the kitchen it can only clean but sanitize
sinks, appliances, and counter tops.
 It is safe for plastic, wood, nylon, cutting boards then rinse with water.
 Comes in different color, blue, green and yellow.

2. Furniture/Wood Polish

Common Cleaning Agents

1. Acetic acid-(vinegar)
2. Acetone acid- capable of dissolving grease, paint from the surface.
3. Alcohol- isopropyl alcohol or rubbing alcohol
4. Calcium hypocrite- (powdered bleach)

Simplest Cleaning Agents

1. Water- is the simplest cleaning agent and some form of dirt will be dissolve
by it.
2. Detergent
3. Abrasive- sand paper, rottenstone, steel wool are examples
4. Degreasing agent- vinegar, lemon juice and baking soda
5. Acids and toilet cleaners-muriatic acid
6. Alkalis- baking soda, few drops of vinegar and lemon juice.

Standard procedure in loading the Trolley

1. Wear a clean hand gloves and dust the trolley shelves from top to
bottom.
2. Check for thread that might twirled around the wheels.
3. Check the screw or the sharp edges that could catch your clothing and
could cause cuts.
4. Disinfect the trolley as well as the linen canvass and the trash bag.
*REMOVE YOUR RUBBER GLOVES
5. Get the ROOM STATUS REPORT/ ROOMING LIST from your supervisor for
your guide in servicing a room. Request from your supervisor a guestroom
amenities to be used according to the number of guest.
*LOAD THE TROLLEY
6. On top of the trolley are the guestroom amenities like bath soap,
shampoo, toilet tissue, toothbrush, toothpaste etc.
7. On the 2nd shelf are the bath towels, face towels, hand towels and pillow
cases.
8. On the 3rd shelf are the blanket, duvet and bed covers.
9. On the linen canvass side are the cleaning materials.
10. On the trash bag side are the caddy with bathroom cleaning supplies
and chemicals.
11. Then after which you explain the parts of the trolley.
*UNLOAD THE TROLLEY
