1. Which among the types of leveling interests you most as a civil engineering student or future
civil engineer?
The types of levelling that interests me the most is differential leveling. I think it’s more accurate
and precise. It is a lot easier than the other, you’ll just use the equipment and sight the pole on
each side, and then enter the data.

2. What is leveling? What are the uses of leveling in the field of survey?
It is a process of determining the difference in elevation between two points by measuring the
vertical distance between the level surfaces through the points. It is used to establish the
elevation of a point relative to a datum.
3. What do you mean about datum surface?
It a surface on an object against which measurements are made. Also a plain surface widely
used in measurements.
