I. COURSE Title AS 111-Aptitude for Service

II.COURSE DESCRIPTION This course includes the significant role of seafarers on board on ship; University’s VMG-CV-PO; professional values like commitment to duty,
honoring obligations of contract, showing concerns for fellow workers and promoting the good image of Filipino seafarers; Quality human relations
among personnel through effective communication skills, fostering positive work attitude and respect of other’s culture; leadership and safety
awareness in seafaring.

III.COURSE OUTCOMES Module 1: Develop one’s Vision-Mission-Goals and Core Values (VMG-CV)

Module 2: Distinguish the advantages over disadvantages of seafaring profession

Module 3: Develop quality human relations by promoting the good image and camaraderie of Filipino seafarers

Module 4: Explain the importance of effective communication to leadership

Module 5: Demonstrate the ability to effectively assess risk by conducting HIRAC in the university premises and design a safety
management plan

V.ANCILLARIES
A. Instructional Methods Independent learning, video viewing, video conferencing, discussion, forums, peer assessment, guided learning and practice, I do-You do-WE do, feed-

C. Course Requirements Shall preferably attend virtual meetings. All requirements shall be uploaded in google classroom.

H. Submission Make sure to submit on time all requirements as indicated in the course guide. Preferably do the online tasks as announced and turn them in on time

I. Communication Policies ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Announcements will be posted on Google Classroom – Stream and this will also automatically be sent to students’ emails via google classroom.
Checking of messages regularly is necessary as they contain important information about upcoming activities or class concerns.

QUESTIONS:
Questions related to the course such as clarifications about assignments, course materials, or assessments shall be posted on the Google Classroom-
Stream. Students may share inputs or insights to answer the concern.
For concerns related to the course which need private discussion with the teacher, students may use Email.

EMAIL:
All students must use the email with the University of Cebu extension or an email using their complete name. Further, they must have personalized
their emails by setting up the signature line in the email setting. So all their emails will have their names at the bottom for ease of identification.
When submitting messages, please indicate on the subject box the Course Topic concern.
For Example:

Do not send messages asking general information about the class. Please post them on the Google Classroom-Stream.

VIRTUAL CLASS HOURS:


Virtual classes will be observed as scheduled in the enrolment and as agreed. Concerns and messages sent through email will also be answered
during the scheduled class.

J. Netiquette When giving comments on G Class stream:
-Compose comments and messages in a positive, supportive, and constructive manner. You may also copy paste (wholly or partially) the information,
question, discussion you are concerned about and continue with what you want to clarify.
- Give honest feedback.
- Observe virtual class hours and submissions set.
-Avoid uttering swear words, visiting inappropriate sites.
- Observe proper behavior in the virtual classroom and wear decent clothes during the video conferencing or in videos submitted.
- Be a proactive and active learner always.
- Avoid using ALL CAPS in messages as it means SHOUTING/ANGRY in the net (Chats).
