Organization— Bata India Ltd is the largest footwear retailer and the leader in the
footwear industry in India. The company is engaged in the business of manufacturing and
trading footwear and accessories through its retail and wholesale network.
Job Brief — The purpose of the position is to provide support in the delivery of reliable,
accurate, timely, and well-informed advice to the Legal Department and the Executive
Leadership Team on legal issues and the potential legal implications of various corporate
strategies and business initiatives and projects.

Key Responsibilities 
 Prepare the annual budget for the department and review it on regular basis.
 Develop and formulate a corporate legal strategy to promote and protect the
company's matters
 Overseeing the delivery of legal services and resources to accomplish corporate goals,
strategies, and priorities
 Advising the CEO and other senior corporate officers on a variety of issues
 Participating in the formulation of general management policy as a member of the
executive management team
 Managing a team of corporate counsel and other members of the legal department
 Ensure all agreements, legal quires, are carried out and replied to the legal bodies
within the time frame.
 Monitoring the cases on periodical bases and updating the development to Mgt in the
MIS framework
 Review the performance of the team member on a quarterly basis and guide them
towards the objective /goal.
 Support legal statutory compliances for all departments for smooth functioning of the
business.
 Update to mgmt, on moving trends and related case laws, new amendments about the
business.

Desired Candidate Profile


 Desirable candidate must have graduation or post-graduation in Law with
experience of minimum of 12 years and a maximum of 20 years; out of which at least
10yearsexperience with a law firm of repute, with a proven track record or a corporate
legal from a consumer goods retail sales network company
 Should have sound knowledge of Legal matters and should have updated knowledge
of Indian corporate and IPC laws
 Should have been working as a Legal Head of Limited Company will be added
advantage
