Research Instrument

The instrument used was a self-made research questionnaire. According to Bell (1999),

a questionnaire is essentially a structured technique for collecting primary data. It is

generally a series of written questions for which the respondents has to provide the

answers.

The type of questionnaire used was a structured instrument. According to

Trueman (2015), closed or structured questionnaires are a quantitative method of

research, which was advocated by Emile Durkheim (1858 – 1917). It is a positivist

research method. It includes the low level of involvement of the researcher and high

number of respondents (the individuals who answer the questions).

We will be using a survey administration software which is the Messenger forms

Forms. Each of these respondents will be given a survey questionnaire checklist . The

self-made questionnaire was composed of four (4) parts.

Part I was a fill in the blank on the profile wherein the respondents supplied the

information needed for the profile age, sex and year level. Part II was used to assess

the level of knowledge of Grade12 Students of ACLC College of Tacloban towards social

media consisting of 5 statements in which the respondents put a yes or no on their

corresponding choice. Part III was a checklist to find out the effects of Social Media

perceived by the respondent’s Mental health. It consisted of twelve (12) statements of

perceived effects in which the respondents put a check on their choice. Part IV was also

a checklist to determine the respondent’s interventions addressing mental wellness to

the mental health of respondents against social. It consisted of twelve (11) statements
of effects of Social Media on mental health wherein the respondents put a check on

their choice.
