Directions: After reading the given reference, answer the following questions.

Gateway to Art: Kahlo, The Two Fridas Using Line to Connect and Direct a Viewer’s Attention

1. Based on the reading, how did the line connect the areas of the painting and direct the
viewer’s attention?

In reading, the artist's connection with her ancestors, her husband and her
children. This book deals with the history of physical pain. The lines formed by the
veins connecting the two images of a person represent their pedigree. The image
shows two characters, or the lives of different subjects. The broken heart seems to be
broken, and based on the reading instructions, the depicted woman is determined to
be divorced. In all figures, the veins are twisted and bent. It also describes Frida's
lifelong suffering after being seriously injured in a car accident at the age of 18. She
underwent multiple surgeries, as evidenced by a surgical clip like a pair of scissors on
the left side. This almost completely prevents her blood flow, but droplets of the
essence of her life stain her white dress. This red line is the most important aspect of
explaining the subject's life. The bold and clear contours of the individual and the soft,
irregular lines of the clouds are the other two lines that add to the overall composition.
Each adds another layer of complexity to this story of patience in difficulties.

2. What are the different types of lines that the artist used in this painting? How did these
lines contribute to the overall message of the artwork?

The lines of her connection and pedigree, the lines of divorce or breakage, or the
crimson lines wrapping her clothes were among the other elements used in the
painting. The subject life story is mainly conveyed by this red line. The other two lines
added to the overall composition are the bold and sharp contours of the people and the
soft and irregular cloud lines. Each adds another layer of complexity to this story of
overcoming difficulties.

3. According to the reading, how did Frank Gehry utilize sculptural relief and in-the-round in
his structure?

Gary's design is a mixture of geometric and organic shapes. Geometric shapes have
long been used in architectural design. In contrast, organic shapes are more difficult
to imagine and design in advance. Curved and irregular buildings are more difficult to
inspect, evaluate, align, and level. However, Gary used a computer system originally
developed for aerospace design to design structures that violate traditional
architectural concepts as geometric shapes. Gary uses both sculptural reliefs and round
shapes. Titanium tiles are used to cover organic parts of the surface of a building. The
slight changes in the surface of this material resemble an abstract relief. However, the
overall structure resembles a spherical sculpture, allowing visitors to roam to enjoy its
amazing bulges and curves.

4. Aside from the element of form, what are the other elements of art that can be found in this
structure and what purpose do they serve?

Apart from its design, Gary's Museum has changed the environment. Interiors that
adapt to future changing art and artist requirements can also be scaled up or down,
providing interesting presentation options. The outline of the filigree of the building
protrudes into the room like a huge boat, emphasizing the connection with the adjacent
water. River Nervion This structure stands out from the surrounding cityscape at the
time of construction. It was created to give an optimistic vision to the then-declining
industrial sector, and it did so in the most amazing way: this part of the town was
credited to Gary's creativity.
Gateway to Art: Ai Weiwei, Dropping a Han Dynasty Urn Motion and Reproduction as a Metaphor for Time

5. According to the reading, how did the series of photographs capture the passage of time
and motion? And how did these images link the ancient and modern Chinese art and
culture?

Three large format photo panels show the passage of time while the artist is performing
irreparable vandalism. The left panel shows him treating the vase ruthlessly. When the
vase falls to the floor, the artist's hand in the second photo is proudly (or shamelessly)
in the air. On the third shot, the vase does not react and hits the floor. In Chinese art
and culture, images combine old and new. Chinese ceramics are a symbol of centuries
of invention and innovation. Love itself emphasizes the importance of Chinese culture.
"Look," he says, wearing his usual slippers and a beard that resembles an old ruler. In
this activity he also represents the current Chinese work as an artist, challenging the
importance of Chinese tradition and attracting attention.

6. What was the overall message of the artwork? Do you think the issue being tackled in this
work also happens in the Philippines? Why or why not? Give specific examples to support
your answer.

In my observation, the main theme of the message is that the only way to create a new
world or civilization is to destroy it. In the Philippines, for example, if a road is
damaged or corroded by external factors or the environment, the road can be improved
simply by demolishing it and repairing or rebuilding it. The message has been
compared to minor flaws, but cannot be compared to the Filipino government, which
continues to worsen without improvement.
