Śrī-rādhānātha-swami-padya-mālikā
(A garland of eight flower-like verses glorifying
Śrī Rādhānātha Swami Mahārāja)

kathaṁ prāpsyāmy ahaṁ devam iti māṅgalya-yauvane


cintayitvā gṛhaṁ tyaktaṁ prāptā bhaktiś ca yair vraje
dīyate bhūridais taiḥ sā viśvebhyaḥ kṛpayā parā
gurūn tān sarvathā vande śrī-rādhānātha-swāminaḥ

Synonyms

katham–how; prāpsyāmi–will attain; aham–I; devam–God; iti–thus; māṅgalya-


yauvane–in the auspicious time of youth; cintayitvā–having thought of; gṛham–
home; tyaktam–was renounced; prāptā–attained; bhaktiḥ–devotional service; ca–
and; yaiḥ–by whom; vraje–in Vraja; dīyate–bestowed; bhūridaiḥ–by the
magnanimous personality [Mahārāja]; taiḥ–by whom; sā–that devotional service;
viśvebhyaḥ–to the whole world; kṛpayā–out of causeless mercy; parā–pure
devotional service; gurūn–unto the spiritual master; tān–unto him; sarvathā–in all
respects; vande–I bow down; śrī-rādhānātha-swāminaḥ–unto Śrī Rādhānātha
Swami.

Translation

I wholeheartedly surrender to [my] spiritual master, Śrī Rādhānātha Swami


Mahārāja, who in his auspicious youth left home thinking, “Where can I find
the Supreme Absolute Truth?” and received devotional service in Śrī
Vṛndāvana dhāma. Since then, he has been mercifully and profusely bestowing
the world with these highest devotional principles.

pāṇḍitya-janma-saundaryaiḥ kalābhiḥ pūrva-sañcitaiḥ


naiva gaura-kṛpā prāptā labdhā tu bhakti-sādhanaiḥ
ity adbhutaṁ mahat-tathyaṁ bodhitaṁ darśitaṁ ca yaiḥ
gurūn tān sarvathā vande śrī-rādhānātha-swāminaḥ

Synonyms

pāṇḍitya–by scholarship; janma–by aristocratic birth; saundaryaiḥ–by exquisite


bodily beauty; kalābhiḥ–skills and talents; pūrva-sañcitaiḥ–acquired by past pious
activities; na–not; eva–at all; gaura-kṛpā–mercy of Śrī Gaura; prāptā–obtained;
labdhā–attained; tu–but; bhakti-sādhanaiḥ–by the execution of disciplined
devotional service; iti-thus; adbhutam–astonishing; mahat–important; tathyam–
principle; bodhitam–taught; darśitam–exemplified; ca–and; yaiḥ–by whom; gurūn–
unto the spiritual master; tān–unto him; sarvathā–in all respects; vande–I bow down;
śrī-rādhānātha-swāminaḥ–unto Śrī Rādhānātha Swami.

Translation

I wholeheartedly surrender to [my] spiritual master, Śrī Rādhānātha Swami


Mahārāja, who has explained, through words and by personally demonstrating
through actions, an important astonishing principle, “The mercy of Śrī Gaura
is attained not by mere erudite scholarship, aristocratic brahminical birth,
exquisite bodily beauty or any other materially achieved skills and talents due
to past pious credits. This mercy is attained only by the sincere practice of
devotional service.”

kīrtaneṣu hariṁ smṛtvā nṛtyanti prema-vihvalāḥ


gāyanti bhakti-bhāvena majjanty evaṁ sudhāmbudhau
lokān ācaraṇair nityaṁ sva-dharmaṁ śikṣayanti ye
gurūn tān sarvathā vande śrī-rādhānātha-swāminaḥ

Synonyms

kīrtaneṣu–in the kirtans; harim–Śrī Hari; smṛtvā–remembering; nṛtyanti–he dances;


prema-vihvalāḥ–absorbed in love; gāyanti–he sings; bhakti-bhāvena–with the mood
of devotion; majjanti–he drowns; evam–in this way; sudhā-ambudhau–in the ocean
of nectar; lokān–to the people in general; ācaraṇaiḥ–by own example; nityam–
always; sva-dharmam–ones spiritual occupational duty; śikṣayanti–he teaches; ye–
he who; gurūn–unto the spiritual master; tān–unto him; sarvathā–in all respects;
vande–I bow down; śrī-rādhānātha-swāminaḥ–unto Śrī Rādhānātha Swami.

Translation

I wholeheartedly surrender to [my] spiritual master, Śrī Rādhānāth Swami


Mahārāja, who deeply absorbed in the thoughts of Śrī Hari, dances ecstatically
in the loud congregational performances of the holy name of the Lord. He sings
with loving devotion while drowning himself [and others] in the ocean of
ambrosia. In this way, through personal practice and demonstration, he always
teaches everyone their eternal spiritual duty [of chanting and dancing with
unalloyed devotion].

nava-vṛndāvanādrau yaiḥ bhaktyaikākibhir arcitau


snāpitālaṅkṛtāviṣṭau niḥsvārthibhiḥ susevitau
tair etau jīva-citteṣu dṛśyete 'bhīkṣṇam adbhutau
gurūn tān sarvathā vande śrī-rādhānātha-swāminaḥ

Synonyms

nava-vṛndāvana-adrau–on the mountains of New Vṛndāvana; yaiḥ–by whom;


bhaktyā–with devotion; ekākibhiḥ–being alone; arcitau–worship; snāpitau–bath;
alaṅkrtau-ornament; iṣṭau–beloved deities; niḥsvārthibhiḥ–being selfless;
susevitau–served nicely; tair–by him; etau–these two deities; jīva-citteṣu–in the
hearts of living entities; dṛśyete–are seen; abhīkṣṇam–constantly; adbhutau–two
beautiful deities; gurūn–unto the spiritual master; tān–unto him; sarvathā–in all
respects; vande–I bow down; śrī-rādhānātha-swāminaḥ–unto Śrī Rādhānātha
Swami.

Translation

I wholeheartedly surrender to [my] spiritual master, Śrī Rādhānāth Swami


Mahārāja, who all alone on the mountains of New Vṛndāvana, devotionally and
selflessly offered excellent worship, bath, ornamentation, and services to his
beloved deities [Śrī Śrī Rādhā Vṛndāvana-nātha]. He continues to see these two
beautiful Lords constantly in the hearts of all living beings.

praṇamanti gurubhrātṝn stunvanti vaiṣṇavān sadā


guṇān paśyanti sarvatra bhaktābhakta-janeṣu ye
māna-śūnyatayā jīvān ākarṣanti kṛpārṇavāḥ
gurūn tān sarvathā vande śrī-rādhānātha-swāminaḥ

Synonyms

praṇamanti–he offers prostrated obeisances; gurubhrātṝn–unto the godbrothers;


stunvanti–he glorifies; vaiṣṇavān–unto the Vaishnavas; sadā–always; guṇān–good
qualities; paśyanti–he sees; sarvatra–everywhere; bhakta-abhakta-janeṣu–in
devotees and non-devotees; ye–he who; māna-śūnyatayā–by the display of humility;
jīvān–the souls; ākarṣanti–he attracts; kṛpā-arṇavāḥ–he who is an ocean of mercy;
gurūn–unto the spiritual master; tān–unto him; sarvathā–in all respects; vande–I
bow down; śrī-rādhānātha-swāminaḥ–unto Śrī Rādhānātha Swami.

Translation

I wholeheartedly surrender to [my] spiritual master, Śrī Rādhānātha Swami


Mahārāja, who offers prostrated obeisance to his beloved godbrothers [and
godsisters] and extensively glorifies the Vaiṣṇavas. As an ocean of compassion
and humility, he sees good qualities in devotees and non-devotees [everyone
irrespective of their spiritual inclination] and thus attracts the hearts of all
living entities.

mandire vitta-koṣe ca saṁsadi dhāmni kandare


viśva-kāryālaye vidyālaye sammelane tathā
bhakti-hīna-janebhyo ye bhaṇanti mahimāṁ hareḥ
gurūn tān sarvathā vande śrī-rādhānātha-swāminaḥ

Synonyms

mandire–at the temple; vitta-koṣe–at the bank; ca–and; saṁsadi–at the parliament;
dhāmni–at spiritual pilgrimage place; kandare–at the cave; viśva-kārya-ālaye–at
international multinational companies; vidyā-ālaye–at world class university;
sammelane–at conferences; tathā–similarly; bhakti-hīna-janebhyaḥ–for the sake of
those who are bereft of devotion; ye–he who; bhaṇanti–loudly proclaims;
mahimām–the glories; hareḥ–of Śrī Hari; gurūn–unto the spiritual master; tān–unto
him; sarvathā–in all respects; vande–I bow down; śrī-rādhānātha-swāminaḥ–unto
Śrī Rādhānātha Swami.

Translation

I wholeheartedly surrender to [my] spiritual master, Śrī Rādhānātha Swami


Mahārāja, who for the sake of uplifting the souls devoid of devotional
sentiments, proclaims and preaches the unparalleled glories of Śrī Hari at
various temples, international banks, national parliaments, spiritual abodes,
caves, multinational corporations, worldwide educational universities, and at
conferences [medical/ business/ interfaith].

yātrārthaṁ prativarṣaṁ ye bhaktān nītvālayaṁ hareḥ


darśayanti sutīrthāṇy ācāryāḥ vāgbhiś ca kīrtanaiḥ
pāyayanty acyutānanta-nāma-līlā-rasāmṛtam
gurūn tān sarvathā vande śrī-rādhānātha-swāminaḥ

Synonyms

yātrā-artham–for spiritual pilgrimage trips; prativarṣam–every year; ye–he who;


bhaktān–devotees; nītvā–having led; ālayam–to the abode; hareḥ–of Śrī Hari;
darśayanti–reveals; sutīrthāṇi–beautiful pastimes; ācāryāḥ–the perfect spiritual
master who leads by personal example; vāgbhiḥ–through his lectures; ca–and;
kīrtanaiḥ–through his kirtans; pāyayanti–makes the audience drink; acyuta-ananta-
nāma-līlā-rasa-amṛtam–the nectarean mellows of Śrī Acyuta’s unlimited names and
pastimes; gurūn–unto the spiritual master; tān–unto him; sarvathā–in all respects;
vande–I bow down; śrī-rādhānātha-swāminaḥ–unto Śrī Rādhānātha Swami.

Translation

I wholeheartedly surrender to [my] spiritual master, Śrī Rādhānātha Swami


Mahārāja, who leads annual parikramās to the various holy abodes of Lord
Hari. As an ācārya, he reveals through his lectures and kīrtanas, the dhāma to
the devotees, as he lovingly makes them drink the nectar of the Lord’s unlimited
names, forms, qualities, and pastimes.

man-mātaḥ mat-pitar bandho mad-guro bhakti-poṣaka


mad-deva mat-sakhe nātha prabhupāda-priyātmaja
śrī-gaura-priya-bhakta śrī-rādhā-prīti-sudhākara
bhavatāṁ pāda-reṇuḥ syāṁ janmani janmani sadā

Synonyms

mat-mātaḥ–O my mother; mat-pitaḥ–O my father; bandho–O friend; mat-guro–Oh


spiritual master; bhakti-poṣaka–O nourisher of my devotional practice; mat-deva–O
my worshipable deity; mat-sakhe–O my dear well-wisher; nātha–O my master;
prabhupāda-priya-ātmaja–O dear son of Śrīla Prabhupāda; śrī-gaura-priya-bhakta–
O dear devotee of Śrī Gaura; śrī-rādhā- prīti-sudhā-ākara–O reservoir of nectar full
of affection for Śrī Rādhā; bhavatām–your [with reverence]; pāda-reṇuḥ–dust at the
lotus feet; syām–may I become; janmani janmani sadā–eternally lifetime after
lifetime.

Translation

O my mother! O my father! O my friend! O my spiritual preceptor! O


nourisher of my devotion to the Lord! O my worshipable Lord! O my best well-
wisher! O my master! O dear son of Śrīla Prabhupāda! O dear devotee of Śrī
Gaura! O reservoir full of affection for Śrī Rādhā! May I eternally become the
dust at your lotus feet, lifetime after lifetime.

iti śrī-mādhva-gauḍīya-sampradāya-guruvarya-sarva-śāstra-niṣṇāta-śrī-
gaurāṅga-mahāprabhu-kṛpā-prāpta-prabhupādaika-niṣṭha-śiṣya-samasta-
vaiṣṇava-jana-priyāṇāṁ śrī-śrīmad-rādhānātha-swāmināṁ eka-saptatitame
śubhāvirbhāva-puṇya-tithāvasare tad-ānugatyābhilāṣiṇāmarendra-dāsena viracitā
tebhya iyam aṣṭa-puṣpa-grathitā śrī-rādhānātha-swāmī-padya-mālikārpitā

Translation

This garland consisting of eight flower-like verses [Śrī-rādhānātha-swāmī-


padya-mālikā] was lovingly composed and offered to Śrī Rādhānātha Swami
Mahārāja, who is an exalted spiritual master in the Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava lineage,
an expert knower of the essence of all scriptures, a recipient of Śrī Gaurāṅga’s
causeless mercy, a dedicated disciple of Śrīla Prabhupāda and a beloved senior
in many Vaiṣṇava communities, on the auspicious occasion of his seventy first
holy appearance anniversary by Amarendra Dāsa, an aspiring fallen servant.
