BSED-ENGLISH3

1. Explain briefly why is listening considered a mental operation that needs

more focus?

 It is considered as a mental operation because through our sense of

hearing, a message is being developed in our brain by which we learn
from those things that we hear around us. Thus, it also necessitates focus
in order for the brain to process meaning from words and sentences in
order for us to develop views, praise, or reply to what we hear. Listening
allows you to gain knowledge about the speaker or a topic and gives us
the chance to be an effective listener or communicator..

2. Give three problems in listening and their solutions to remediate these

problems.

PROBLEM REMEDIATION

listening comprehension, once the teacher is done uttering the
tongue twister, he/she shall repeat it slowly then give the

3. Listen to the speaker, then answer these questions:

 a. What makes a good teacher great?

A good teacher who knows how to listen to the students opinions,

ideas and perception makes him/her a great teacher. A great teacher does
not only teach children to produce lifelong learners, thus, a great teacher shall
also learn from his/her students to have a collaborative learning. A great
teacher is expected to be someone who imparts good knowledge to the
children and build a relationship with them through trust.

 b. Give three quoted statements of the speaker that inspire you to be like
him.

 “A great teacher loves to teach and learn.”- This has made me realize that
teaching alone cannot be fulfilled without learning from your students. You
have to make an adjustment and learn to listen and be inclusive just like
what the speaker said in the video.

 “A great teacher thinks like a kid but acts like an adult.”- In this sense, he
said that kids actually have different ways of communicating and so does
the teacher. The teacher shall spend his/her time listening as it is what
most adults do. Listen and give solution to what is coming through.

 “A great teacher is chill.”- It is hard to determine body language of the

students to determine if they are going through something or are they fine,
but a teacher shall interpret this matter optimistically and just continue and
go with what he/she is destined to do---to teach and learn their students’
body language.
