Important Guidelines

1. The final grade of this course is based on three assignments and an oral presentation (see
Course Specification Form).

2. For the assignments and oral presentations the students will divide in groups. Four groups of
four students and two groups of five students.

3. Define the groups by yourselves until Friday January 15 at 5:00 pm and let me know by email
at Jorge.onaruales@nu.edu.kz. If I do not receive the email with the group members, I will define
the groups by myself. Also, if there are students with no group after this deadline, I will define
their group or include them in other groups.

4. Each group should select a topic for your work. The selection should be done until Thursday
January 21 at 5:00 pm (any delays in submission will affect your grade). It can be in any topic but
restrict to the areas of your master’s program so you will find a benefit from this work for your
future.

5. The assignments and oral presentation should be a work effort. It is precisely in the background
diversity among the members of your group where you can find more interesting feedback to
develop a better work. Be sure to have the contributions all of the members of the group in the
assignments and oral presentations.

6. DO NOT EXPECT from me a step-by-step guideline in how to write assignments or make oral
presentations. You are in a master’s level program and you should know or you should generate
any procedure necessary to complete successfully your work. In the lectures, I will provide some
guidelines, but the work depends entirely on you and your group.

7. The live lectures are usually one time per week. The idea is that you use the other lecture time
to develop your assignments and oral presentation.

8. Since there are few live lectures, I do not provide recordings of the lectures. You have to attend
to all of the lectures. I register the attendance of every live lecture. A low attendance could affect
your final grade, but a high attendance will not improve your final grade. I will provide the slides
of each live session by Moodle.

9. In the following lecture, I will let you know the deadline for the submission of first assignment
(see Course Specification Form)

10. In the following weeks (see following table), there are going to be three sessions given by
Darya Zvonareva from NU library to talk about the resources available to find literature
information and how to cite documents. Also, the attendance to these lectures is compulsory
and will be registered.
11. The link of the text book is going to be included in Moodle.
