Name: Arabaca, Xavie Dominic D. 03/14/2022

Student No. 20120123219
Problem:
An ammonia compressor operates under standard condition. The refrigerant is sub-
cooled to 25 deg C and is superheated by 20 degrees when it enters the compressor. A
twin- cylinder compressor with a bore to stroke ratio of 0.85 is to be used at 1200 rpm.
The mechanical efficiency is 85%. For a load of 115 kW, find:

a. quantity of cooling water in the condenser if the temp rise is 10 degrees,

b. bore and stroke if clearance is 5%,
c. size of driving motor, HP and
d. quality of the refrigerant entering the evaporator
