V THE DepEd VISION

I We dream of Filipinos
who passionately love their country
S
and whose values and competencies
I enable them to realize their full potential
O and contribute meaningfully to building the nation.

N
As learner-centered public institution,
the Department of Education
continuously improves itself
to better serve its stakeholders.

M THE DepEd MISSION

I To protect and promote the right of every Filipino to quality, equitable, culture-based, and
complete basic education where:
S
 Students learn in a child-friendly, gender-sensitive, safe, and motivating
S environment.
I  Teachers facilitate learning and constantly nurture every learner.
 Administrators and staff, as stewards of the institution, ensure an enabling and
O
supportive environment for effective learning to happen.
N  Family, community, and other stakeholders are actively engaged and share
responsibility for developing life-long learners.
G  Provide a broad general education that will assist each individual in society to
attain his/her potential as a human being, and enhance the range and quality of
O individual and the group;
 Help the individual participate in the basic functions of society to acquire the
A essential educational foundation for his/her development into a productive and
L versatile citizen;
 Train the nation’s manpower in the middle-level skills required for national
S development;
 Develop the high-level professions that will provide leadership for the nation,
advance knowledge for improving the quality of human life;
 Respond effectively to changing needs and conditions through a system of
educational planning and evaluation.

My Analysis
1. How important is the school’s vision, mission and goals in designing the curriculum?

We need a goal/plan in order to have a guide on how our life supposed to be or how we want it to be going
through. It is also the same with the curriculum. An objective is needed in order to direct the change in behavior of
the students which is the aim of learning, to change a person to a better citizen. A curriculum should require this,
and in order to create a path for a certain objective, they need to create a vision that redirects the institutions would
be like to be in the future. A mission that aims the student on what they will become after being educated, and a goal
that tends to set the intents of those things to be accomplished.
When designing a curriculum, the vision and mission dictates course offerings and methods for evaluation.
Without a vision and mission statement, schools will have no clear direction of where they are headed or what they
objectives are on a daily basis.

2. What methods and strategies were employed by the school community to realize these goals?

The methods and strategies is that they are providing all the necessities that the student’s needs, for them to
learn in a comfortable environment. The methods and strategies used are the activities that suited to the vision,
mission and goals of the school. The school community makes sure that the curriculum of their school should be
effective to the students.

3. How did the students manifest that they have internalized their vision, mission and goals?

They have internalized their vision, mission and goals through application which is extremely effective way for students to
take the statements to heart. They follow the rules and regulations of the school that even though they are outside of the school. They have
internalized it when the students still apply these things in real-life situation, not only inside the classroom or campus.
Even when they are finished studying on that school they still does not forget the vision, mission and goals the previous school they had.

My Reflections/ My Insights

Curriculum is a life blood of education which is very important aspect in learning. Administrators of a
certain school should implement their mission, vision and objective as bases in making/creating good curriculum.
The administrators have this responsibility in developing such matter because they are dealing with the interest of
their learner, which could affect their whole future.
In order to attain the vision, mission, and goals of the school, the school administration, the teaching staff,
the school community, and parents must join together and help each other.

Mission and vision of the school guides us to answer questions about who we are, what do we value, and
where we’re going. The school should have its vision, mission and goals so that the stakeholders will be guided on
the aims of the school. This helps the students to be morally upright and the school will give them a quality
education as its vision mission and goals stated.

Observe a class, record the situations where these behavioral learning

theories are applied in real classroom work.

Behavioral Learning Theories – emphasize

observable behavior such as new skills, knowledge
or attitudes which can be demonstrated.
Behavioral Learning Theory is shown in activity such as
research work, experimentations, demonstration and the others. This
will help the teacher to examine the learner’s behavior for the certain
activity.

Cognitive Learning Theories – unobservable

mental processes are used to learn and
remember new information or acquire skills.

This is seen during recitations, quizzes, exams, projects, etc.

wherein, the teacher could be able to measure the learning capacity of an
individual.

Discovery Learning – individual learns

from his discovery of the environment.

It is learning by doing. This is seen during the experimentation, research

and the like, wherein the students are able to explore and could get ideas out of
what they saw in their surroundings or environment.

Reception Learning – learners are actively

involved in their own learning.

It was seen during performances like drama, role plays, poem,

reciting, singing, etc. The learners are actively participating and learn a lot
through involving themselves with others.

My Analysis

1. Explain why teaching and learning give life and meaning to the curriculum.
Teaching and learning gives life to curriculum simply because they are the realization of the curriculum. A
curriculum that's not put into action is totally nonsense and can be considered non-existing because it would not be
recognized unless it's implemented. This has to be implemented and actualized to be considered as curriculum. It is
done by the teacher through her lesson plans & then actualized in the field' with her students. Without
implementation, curriculum is like a dead plan if it is not put into practice.

2. Discuss why the deluge of information poses a great challenge to both teaching and learning.

We cannot put all the information and possess it at a time. There’s a need for both the teacher and the
learner to adjust to the new information from time to time. They must adopt themselves on the process to enhance
the teaching and learning process.

My Reflections/ My Insights

I LIKE TEACHING BECAUSE……

This profession as they say is the noblest profession. It is not an easy job to be an educator. It gives a lot of
effort and giving your heart on it. Teaching is a very challenging role in shaping one’s country. As a future builder,
teachers are highly regarded as models in the school and also to the whole community.
Teacher do a multi-task and among of this is shaping and implementing the curriculum. In the teaching and
learning process, the teacher holds the key in operationalizing what activities have been planned. Being a future
teacher is about acknowledging all this kind of task that makes it so challenging in my part.
