WASTE DISPOSAL

WASTE DISPOSAL

Waste.

The material that is not suitable for its original purpose and must be discarded or recycled.
Major wast is generated by tyre. industry...

Physical waste reduction.

waste reduction involves raw materials. side in proces and fine shed goods. It is achieved by the
following means:

1 Sound Product Planning.

2 skillful buying

3. Operations analysis for waste causes

and their causes

4. Continuous monitoring of the process. and the product to assure that the cures are working.

1. Product -Planning
Wast can be reduced by simplification in product dines. The minimum number of compounding
ingredients and minimum number of compounds should be used to reduce the waste.

2. Buying Practices:
Skillful buying can reduce waste by optimising the packaging of incoming materials e.x Master
batches should be purchased if possible so that the packing materials can be reduced.

3. Operation analysis.
A flowsheet of operations is essential for planning waste reduction and correct handling of
what does occur in processing. Functions that produce work. can then be identified, along with
the type. The amount of waste can be determined by material balance methods.

Rubber Industries do not... ordinarily

generate significant quantities of liquid -hazardous wartes. Soid weste is main problem
especially for tyses.

WASTE TYRE DISPOSAL :-

Scrap tyres are not landfilled because. - with water inside the casing tyres provide
excellent breeding grounds for mosquitoes If dry, they are shelter for rodents.. s when covered,
they create the pressure on soil & make their way to the surface.

There are following ways available to handle this used tyres

1. Retreading is The est recycling to best the tyre. and retreed get dorother 20000-40000 miles
out of it (if it is -passenger tyre)."

2. Reclaiming Chemical and physical) : Chemical Physical - Reclaiming. the production of ground
shredded rufter without a devidcanising step.

3. Rubberised Asphalt: It is mixture of about 18% ground rubber and 82%. asphalt cement by
weight when this material is used as a binder for aggregate, roads tend to have longer life, they
retain elasticity and adhesion in cold weather, and in hot weather they resist ageing because of
the antioxidants and ultraviolet resistors (eg... is the rubber particles_ carbon black)

It can be used to formulate very porous mixes which when used in road construction, allow
better grip, and there is less skidding. and aquaplaning and leads to less traffic noise.

4. Tyres into energy by incineration High temperature incineration comment the tyres into
energy..

5. Mixellaneous Disposal methods: Used in cheap sandale , crude, protective bumpers for boats.

JUST IN TIME AND THE RUBBER-INDUSTRY

The rubber industry is conservative by. nature and is failing to exploit the.. benefits to be gained
from systems. and approaches that are succeeding is other manufacturing aspects.

Successful implementations of manufacturing philosophies such or Just in time & Total" Quality
management, esp. in rubber industry can contribute to extensive quite dramatic improvements.
3 concepts are. Right First Time [RFT], and Just in Time [JIT), and Total Quality Myout

Right First Time [RFT]; RFT is the belief that it is always more effective, more efficient. hence
cheaper to make something correctly the first time then to make a mistake and then have a go at
getting it right the second time .

We are trying to manufacture the right products at this right time to the right - quality for the
right price in the right quantity.

RFT not only implies to product but also to in process stocks.

2. Just in Time:
JIT is nothing more than the the continuous elimination To understand the concept compare the
factory concept of waste. q JIT, we functions to those of pipeline .
The question is How to improve. this process".
1. One way is to shorten the pipe length. reducing the manufacturing. value means. lead time by
employing only adding operations.
2.Polisting the inside of the pipe to minimise the friction losses and further improve the speed
of travel. This related to RET production in the form of low defect and scrap rates.

There improvements are aimed at. achieving & main objectives namely to gaiss a manufacturing
edge over our competitors by making our products.

1 Better

2 Faster

3. Cheaper

3. Total Quality Management:

JOM is the pursuit of optimum quality with the goal of achieving zero defects.

TOM employ fellowing principles! -change in company culture. continuous improvements

through people. to customers.

Better service Improved profitability.
