I. Objectives

Within a 40- minutes period of teaching- learning process the Grade 7 students are expected
to:

A. Identify epics form other indigenous cultures in the Philippines

B. Discuss and define folk epics and its significant part in our oral traditions

C. Appreciate the importance of preserving literature

II. Learning Content:

Topic: Filipino Epic: The Prowess of Aliguyon

III. Materials/Resources:

• MS PowerPoint 365
• Mentimeter
• Padlet

IV. Lesson Procedure:

A. Pre-lesson Activity

● Preliminaries

The teacher greets the students then start the class with an opening prayer, check
attendance and asks them a few ordinary questions. The teacher also asks students
for the previous discussion last meeting to refresh the knowledge of the students.

● Motivation

The teacher gives a link from Mentimeter to the students and asks students questions
about their favorite heroes. In the link, they will type the names of their favorite
heroes.

B. During Lesson

The teacher uses MS PowerPoint and presents it to the students. The teacher defines
epic in a brief discussion as introduction of the story. The teacher presents pictures
to the students. The teacher asks students to analyze the pictures and find their
connections and come up with a word that they can associate to the pictures and type
it on the Mentimeter provided by the teacher.

The teacher story tells the story of The Prowess of Aliguyon in a dynamic MS
PowerPoint presentation.

C. Post – Lesson

The teacher asks questions in relation to the topic and asks random students to
answer it.

• What makes the story of Aliguyon epic?


• What desirable traits of Aliguyon you want to have?
• Can you mention epics stories in the Philippines? How were you able to learn
about it?
• Do you think the Philippine epics are relevant in the present time? How is it
relevant?

D. Evaluation

The teacher conducts quiz #1 to the students. In the quiz, there will be 10-item multiple
choice quiz about the topic discussed.

Instruction: In a ¼ sheet of paper. Write your name, grade and section and number your
paper from 1-10. Listen to your teacher for the questions. The question per item will
only be read twice. Write only the letter of your answer in your paper.

E. Assignment

The teacher gives students assignment #1 through Padlet and answer the question:
Why is it important to preserve our literature? What are your ways to preserve the
pre-colonial literature like the epic story of Aliguyon?
