Refer to the tactical considerations on bivouacs. Choose one that you prefer to be available on site. Explain
why.
Student’s Answer:

In referring to the tactical considerations on bivouacs, I would prefer it to have an adequate cover
and concealment so that it is not easily noticeable by hostiles in case they were to march on where we
would setup the camp. Having that said, certain factors such as weather and temperature could also affect
the overall considerations concerning bivouac which is why I would choose to make a single-sided shelters
to save time which enables simple access, yet designed for camouflaging to maintain concealment.
In order to hide sunlight, the roof should be at least a foot thick and opaque. Artificial bivouacs
can be manufactured out of a number of materials, including corrugated iron sheeting, plywood,
groundsheets, and a purpose-built basha but since there are no given materials, hardwood would be
enough to be an alternative. In case the location is set to be in a chilly climate, it would surely decrease
the combat readiness over time so it is significant to ensure that soldiers receive enough rest by providing
enough warmth.
In general, by considering a bivouac that is designed for adequate cover and concealment, it
would let the campers to become safer and more comfortable despite of weather conditions since it is not
that difficult to create a single sided shelters that is enough for resting and protection from rain.
