Hidden Talent of Ripe Papaya and Honey as Tan Remover

a. Background of the Study

People in our generation, specifically the youth, cares so much about their appearance, like
shiny hairs, slim bodies, and most especially the fairness of their skin.

So for their satisfaction, researchers created different products that helps remove suntan.
Examples of these products are Lotus, and creams that are produced by Indians, which are
some of the best tan remover creams worldwide. These products needed to undergo in a
much more complicated process for it to be perfect. Yet, with the help of these former
studies, researchers in our own country were given an idea on how to make our own tan
remover creams. After a lot of experiments conducted and more further researches, they
finally came up with our own products such as Nivea, Ponds, etc., which are distributed to
different parts of our county ready to be used by its people.

However, locals can't afford these kinds of products, that's why they chose to settle in using
the nature's gifts as an alternative solution to get rid of the tan. In this way, it will be much
more easier for them and much more affordable. They used fruits and vegetables that are
believed to have the ability to whiten our skin.

One good example is Papaya. This fruit belongs to the Caricacaea, a small family of only 4
genera and 27-30 species. Linnaeus gave the latin name of 'Carica Papaya' in 1753. Papaya
most probably originated along the Caribbean cost of Central America, while in the 16th and
17th centuries, it quickly became favored by Spanish and Portuguese explorers. Aside from
that, Papaya (pawpaw, papaw), which is deliciously sweet with the musky undertones and
the soft bitter-like consistency, has potent skin-lightening properties that helps in removing
suntan and reduces the visibility of scars and blemishes. It is good for skin-renewal,
exfoliation, and also skin restoration. Fresh ripe papaya is one of the fruits with the highest
Vitamin-C content, which provides 61.8 mg. or about 103% of DRI, more than that of in
oranges or lemons. It is also an excellent source of Vitamin-A and flavonoids (any type of
oxygen containing aromatic anti-oxidant compounds) like B-Carotene, Lutien, Zea-xanthin
and Cryptoxanthin.

In addition to papaya as a tan remover, there is also Honey. Honey is as old as history itself.
However, fossils of honeybees date back about 150 million years ago. Every early civilization
prized honey for its medical properties. Honey has been in everything from desserts, to
SKINCARE, and to cough relief. It has century-old benefits that go beyond its sweet taste.
This sweet viscid material elaborated out of the nectar of flowers in the honey sac of the
bees is also a very good moisturizer for dry skin, and also makes the skin glow because of its
contents.

Honey is also a great natural source of carbohydrates which is provides strength and
energy to our bodies. In fact, honey is known for its effectiveness in instantly boosting the
performance, endurance and reduces muscle fatigue of athletes.

Through these natural resources, we can now have a good remedy for removing sun
tan. A cure which is much more affordable and easier to make than that of the imported
products. Starting today, there is no need for us to be buying expensive products made from
other countries.

b. Significance of the Study

Nowadays, people do everything to care for their skin, that's why, researchers created
products to remove tan. But because of high prices, others couldn't afford to buy such
expensive products. Hence, the discovery of this much simpler sun tan remover.

c. Statement of the Problem

1.How long will this mixture be applied before the tan is removed?
2.How much amount is needed to be applied to remove the tan?
3.Will you still be able to go out immediately after applying the product?

d. Hypothesis
1.The tan will be removed after applying the product once a day in the span of three days.
2.Two tablespoon of the mixture is the amount needed to be applied on the tanned skin.
3.We will still be able to go out immediately after applying the product.
f. Review of Related Literature
Papayas aren't just a simple fruit that you see in common places. In fact, there are more to it
than meets the eye. Other researches have proven that papaya is very helpful in many ways,
in our health, illness and skin cares. Other common studies about papayas are:

PAPAYA TEA: HAS CANCER FIGHTING PROPERTIES (UF RESEARCHERS)

As proven by the Dr. Nam Dang, from the University of Florida and colleagues in Japan have
documented papayas dramatic anti-cancer effect against a broad range of Lab Gown Tumors,
including Cancers of the cervix, breast, liver, lung, and pancreas. The researchers used an
extract made from dried papaya leaves, and the anti-cancer effects were stronger when cells
received larger doses of the tea.

The papaya extract did not have any toxic effects on normal cells, avoiding a common and
devastating consequence of many cancer therapy regimens. The success of the papaya
extract in acting on cancer without toxicity is consistent with reports from indigenous
populations in Australia and Vietnam.

PAPAYA FOR WEIGHT LOSS

The body reduces high blood glucose by clearing sugar from the blood and storing it as
glycogen. This process makes you feel hungry. If you do not burn the energy stored as
glycogen it transforms to a fat and contributes to weight gain.

As cited by Jessica Bruso, (Demand Media), papaya contains significant amounts of

fiber, foliate, and vitamins A and C. It is also relatively low in calories that’s why it is a good
choice for those looking to lose weight. The enzymes of papaya are also capable of increasing
your metabolism, digesting fats, and assimilating carbohydrates.

According to the website, wiseGEEEK.com, there are three primary dietary oxidants
found in Papaya which are Vitamins C, A and E actively discourage the oxidant of two types
of cholesterol in blood vessels and arteries when consumed. When cholesterol is allowed to
oxidizes, it begins to form plaque which then sticks to the walls of blood vessels and causes
clots. People who suffer from heart disease or who are at a high risk for a heart attack may
use papaya for weight loss and heart health to improve their cholesterol levels and reduce
their weight.
