Drill: Show a picture of model of the heart
( The teacher will divide the class according to their grade level. Each group will
do the Activity)

Group 1
1. Look for your pulse by using your index finger and middle fingers and pressing
them slightly on your wrist. Count the pulse while in a seated position for 1
minute. Record your data. This will be your resting rate
2.Jog in place for 3 minutes and do jumping jack for 2mins. Count the pulse for 1
minute after the activity. Record the data. This will be your working heart rate.
Get the differences of working pulse rate to resting pulse rate(Individual Activity)
3.The assigned leader of the group will gather all the data of their group
members. Answer will be written on the manila paper for presentation ff. the
table.
NAME RESTING PULSE WORKING PULSE DIFFERENCE IN
RATE RATE PULSE RATE

Answer the following question:

1. Compare your heart rate while resting, with your heart rate after
exercise. What did you did you observe? Were there differences of
your recorded data?
2. What is the effect of exercise to your heart rate? What does this
mean? Why does it happen?
Group 2
3. Using a straw, balloon and tape, make a look like a lungs. And blow it
like Inhaling and exhaling. Answer the ff question.
a. What happen when you blow the balloon? And you blow out
the balloon?
b. What goes into the balloon?
c. How does the activity related to the picture show in the board?
3. Motivati
I will group according to the grade level every group will have a short dance

muscles contract involuntarily. Meaning we cannot control its beating.
Roan: Wow! The heart works well for us. They say the lungs and the heart work
together. How does this happen?
Danica: The heart receives oxygen from the lungs and continues to contract and
pumps blood to the rest of the body parts including lungs through blood vessels.
Nikkei: so its demonstrates a give and take relationship between the heart and
the lungs.
Roan: Look even our body parts help each other in the same manner ad we do.
Danica: Let us take care of our hearts and our lungs so we do not get sick.
1. What was the dialogue all about?
Student: its all about our heart and how heart and lungs work together.
2. How big our heart is?
Student: Is as big as our clenched fist.
3. Where was our heart located?
Student : it is located at the middle of our heart chest cavity.
4. Now will you put your Right hand on your upper left part of your chest.
What do you feel?
Students: I feel the beat of our heart.
5. What is the function of the heart and lungs
Students: Heart is who contract and pumps blood to the rest of the body parts
including lungs.
Lungs who inhale oxygen that receive by our heart.
6. How does the heart and lungs work together?
Students: heart and lungs work together by the lungs gives oxygen to the
heart that to continues pump bloods.
5. DISCUSSION
The activity we have done today is about the heart and lungs and their functions.
Again who can give me the meaning of the heart and what its function?

Say: Hear is a hollow muscular organ located between the lungs and it is
protected by the rib cage. Heart pump blood to the rest of the body organ
including the lungs through blood vessel.

What does happened to the beat if the heart if we walking, seating, jumping
jogging,dancing and more.

Say: if we do some work our heart beat fast specially when do some exercise like
jogging and jumping.

As the blood continues what is the role of the lungs how it can help the heart ?
Say: They lungs give Oxygen to the heart so that it continues to contract and
pumps blood.

Teacher
 The heart is a hollow muscular organ located between the lungs and
protected by our rib cage.
 About a size of a fist that located to our middle chest cavity. T
 he beating of the heart is due to the contraction of the heart muscles.
 The cardiac muscles Contract involuntary.
 Cardiac refers to the heart, means contractions cant be controlled by your
will. It continues to pump blood as ling as the person lives. Its pumps
blood even you are sleeping.
 Contraction continues allowing heart to receives oxygen from the lungs.
 Continues to contract and pump blood to the rest of body parts including
the lungs through blood vessel.
 Lungs filters oxygen that enters our body because it contains a filtering
structure to ensure that heart receives clean oxygen from the lungs.
 Carbon dioxide as a waste material of the body is removed from the body
through the lungs .
 So as the heart and lungs work together we should take good care of
them so that we live healthy and strong . Not only just the heart and lungs.
But all parts of the human organ.
6. APPLICATION
